Thanks for posting about the sale. Picked up several random titles for $10-15 I never would have gone for at $30. Would've been nice to get The Bride Wore Black, but hopefully a superior edition is forthcoming from another label (despite their imperfections I decided Mermaid and Adele H were worth $10 apiece).

I don't normally buy from TT, but I love Interiors, so I bought their disc. Whoever this Julie Kirgo is, she ain't much of a film scholar, because her writing - both the liner notes and even the damn synopsis on the back cover! - belie the fact that she watched this movie once and barely paid attention. It's like she got Geraldine Paige's character mixed up with Glenn Close in Fatal Attraction. "Controlling madness", "caught in her web", talk of how she brilliantly manipulates people. And the way she reaches to turn the movie into some metaphor for benign WASPy anti-semitism? Good grief.

They can't possibly produce such an awful product on a regular basis, can they? And still be in business? And claiming the mantle of "film historians"? Jesus.

I stopped listening to TT's commentaries because of Kirgo, I really have trouble with her. (Redman is OK.) I forget which Truffaut it was (Mermaid or The Bride, probably), but she makes it sound like she's a Truffaut expert but then she couldn't put some of his films in the correct chronological order.

You want bad? The liner notes for Twilight Samurai are laughably bad. To be fair, I recall her liner notes for Killer Elite being ok, but other than that, I can't think of any that are worth reading.

Maybe, just maybe, a TT title that caught my attention: Gran Bollito / Black Journal (1977)

If I buy this, then the next day Indicator announces their edition :?. Would rather buy theirs.

What studio's are the common BLurays in Indicator and TT?
I would prefer Indicator's too, since they are cheaper.
But if there are some TT blurays from a studio that indicator hasn't got a deal with, I'll buy the TT ones.

If you've not gotten a copy of Truffaut's Mississippi Mermaid you can get it for a scant $9.95 on Twilight Time's website at the moment. I'm suffering from a need for Ms Denevue's work at the moment, so the timing was right.

I see someone has asked at facebook for Mrs. Soffel, The Long Hot Summer and Sweet Bird of Youth, and TT confirmed that at least one title of those is coming this year!

I would bet that it's The Long Hot Summer since it has been released in other territories.

Mrs. Soffel was just released on DVD-R by Warner Archive so it ain't it! Sweet Bird of Youth is also with Warner. The Long Hot Summer is a Fox title, so it's the only film of these 3 they could release.

TT also strongly hinted on Facebook that they'll be releasing Kevin Reynolds' brilliant The Beast (1988), which features a gorgeous Mark Isham score.

I see at imdb the production company for SBOY is MGM, and there's also an MGM DVD:

Sweet Bird of Youth, like many older MGM titles, is now owned by Warners. That DVD is the Warners DVD. It 100% isn't coming from TT

Ok.

Something else:
If I remember correctly TT had said they're waiting for a new scan of Alien Nation?

Well when your company won't be around in 3 years, time is better spent doing things other than making good covers...
