I wish this was the case. Unfortunately there's been no indication that these are even being worked on. And they need lots of work from what I've been told. And if Criterion does license his titles you would hear about that well before the first title gets released.

When was the last time Criterion actually posted titles early? I feel like it's been like eight or more years, so I'm not holding my breath

Have they ever done announcements on a Saturday?

The only time I remember was when they were leaked via Amazon on a Saturday. It was a few years back that happened. I can't see that happening again. Probably Tuesday as Domino suggested.

There was a hint or rumor that a Tarr film other than Satantango would get a release, but it was a few years ago -- definitely doesn't qualify as recent.

I may have spent too long on the left coast, but I don't recall the day after Easter being a business holiday. Also, they've announced on tax day before (most recently 2015).

I was scratching my head on this one, too. I looked it up and saw that it was "Emancipation Day", which I've never even heard of. Where I located it (maybe Wikipedia, don't recall) did state that it was a D.C. holiday.

My guess is a Monday announcement.

Add me to the list of those trying to figure out what holiday could possibly be on the 17th. Apparently Easter Monday is a big deal in some places (my S/O said most of Berlin closes down on that day) - although I've never seen it celebrated anywhere.

The best alternative I could find is that Criterion probably really likes Argentine wine.

Monday is a holiday celebrated in Washington, DC, only -- Emancipation Day. It is not a national holiday and should not affect NY-based Criterion announcements, while it does affect what day your income tax is due.

Actually it's also Patriots Day here in Boston, but that also wouldn't effect anything either. I've never heard of Easter Monday either, so I'd be shocked if that caused them not to do announcements.
