There are two WB Blus on the bottom shelf. Have they upgraded any other existing Blus besides Being There and Barry Lyndon?

Also, I think the white case two down from the three disc UK Dietrich set is the US Dietrich set

I *think* both the bottom shelf WB Blus are Being There.

There's a non-Itami film between those and Bringing Up Baby (completely different spine style and wrap around Image)

So the Itamis have to be at least partially covered by Eclipse, right, whatever that means nowadays?

Bottom shelf, 5 from the left - isn't that an Artificial Eye dvd?

Yes, it and the one before it are the US and the UK releases of L'Argent

I think the red one a couple ways to the right of Pagnol is the BFI Rossellini War Trilogy.

On Shelf 1, the blue to the left of Polyester seems like a French (or Italian?) title, "La (something)"

Yeah, looks like you're right (I just assumed that Napoleon would be the only BFI set in a digipak setup that's red with golden text, but apparently that was too much!) So the bottom shelf should all be "things they don't need anymore" then.

What's the red spine Blu-ray in the bottom shelf then, and the sea blue spine between it and the Cub set?

Why are we so sure all those Japanese DVDs are Juzo Itami films? He only directed ten features, and there are sixteen or seventeen different discs there. Plenty of other Japanese DVDs share that same spine format with the picture at the top. I think I've got a bunch of Masahiro Shinoda films that look like this.

Based on the ones I can read (4th,5th,9th,11th from left being Taxing Woman 1&2, Minbo no Onna, Daibyonin) I think they might all be Itami related films. Also, I might be wrong but I think that both of the old Japanese boxsets were eight discs apiece.

Looking into the "Itami range" on there

01 - The Funeral
02 - Tampopo
03 - ??
04 - A Taxing Woman
05 - A Taxing Woman's Return
06 - ??
07 - Tales of a Golden Geisha
08 - ??
09 - Minbo
10 - ??
11 - The Last Dance
12 - ??
13 - A Quiet Life
14 - Supermarket Woman
15 - ??
16 - Woman In Witness Protection

Did any of the extras / the feature length making-ofs get their own discs? They all look rather uniform / not sure why Criterion would put them in that order otherwise. The ten I listed make up Itami's entire filmography, so not sure what else would be there.

This all reminds me of something... does anyone remember this?

It helps to zoom in even further on the image.

-Is the black case next to Bringing Up Baby - Citizen Kane? It appears to have a WB logo at the bottom. The font length + high placement on the digipack looks identical to the old DVD.

- The sky blue one looks like Waking Life - but it appears to be a Blu-ray, so perhaps not.

-The 2nd shelf next to Awful Truth is almost readable - it either reads top to bottom or traditional left to right - but it looks like it should say OZU or reading vertically: ONE --UK.. Perhaps someone can decipher it - its right on the verge of my reading it.

-Next to the above looks like the Withnail and I font.

-Is the dark spine between the 6disc set & the blue "La .." set a UK disc?

I think the 6-disc DVD set on the first shelf could be the François Truffaut set put out by Cinema Club, but I'm not sure.

I don't think so just because the titles of the films don't match the length of the titles on the DVD set in the picture.

This is just a wild guess, but I'll say that the title next to The Awful Truth is Applause; I believe that's the title because I think I can make out the Kino Video logo on the top and the DVD logo in the white oval at the bottom of the spine.

The big black "Baby" set on the bottom shelf, at the right, is the French Baby Cart set. On the same bottom shelf, just left of the Pagnol white set, it's the UK Lodger BD release.
The Almodovar set in the higher shelf is the French 2016 one.

One time I posted a picture and the board was able to identify a paperback book that only had like two inches of one corner showing
