Presumably the latter. People who think that box will in any way impact November or December announcements are worrying about nothing, it will be business as usual

I am skeptical that you're right about that. First of all, there's the lack of an announcement of any postponement. Then, the amount of film in this box set far outstrips two months' worth. We're talking about 104 hours of films (6,253 minutes) and a 253-page book. Just check any release for how many full-time staffers are in the editorial department there. I doubt they've hired additional bodies to work on it. Meanwhile, they're restoring both parts of Leni Riefenstahl's Olympia, some other documentaries that are full-length, e.g., Tokyo Olympiad and White Vertigo, and commissioning new scores for the seven silent films. It seems logical, too, that they're rounding out the year with No. 900. It's a massive, expensive project, and I think their resources are probably fully committed to it for the rest of the year.

November is the single biggest retail release month of the year. They aren't skipping it. Allay your fears

Rarely do they "announce" postponements.

Furthermore, they've been announcing on the 16th more often than on the 15th for quite some time now.

Maybe we'll get a clarification announcement tomorrow saying that the Olympics box set was the announcement for November and December. Sorry, folks. That's it for the rest of the year.

2 of 7 of the first weekday that is or after the 15th this year isn't more often than not!

Moving the goalposts much?

They announced it on the 15th only twice this year. That's not often.

Noticed on Criterion twitter several photos of Jeanne Moreau posted today, and a photo of Robert Ryan as a boxer also posted today. Could it be Elevator to the Gallows upgrade and The Set-Up to be announced?
