You can add L'Amour par terre to definite UK theatrical openings.

Thanks, I wasn't going mad then! Though I didn't see it and still haven't seen it, I had a memory of that coming out in the mid 80s (in a shorter version than the one that recently appeared on DVD) but it's not on the BBFC website and I couldn't find it listed in my old copies of the Virgin Film Yearbook. So I guess that was an uncertificated run at somewhere like the ICA, then?

Hello, Can anyone let me know if there is a French script available out there for Celine et Julie vont en bateau? Many thanks.

Fantastic news. For anybody who has never seen a Rivette film, or is on the fence about him, this is the one you need to see.

You're only getting Celine's boating. Julie's boating will be available on a separate disc

Why the Resnais as an extra? It's not even all that thematically connected which is the only connection I can reason.

Not sure, but both of those shorts were on the DVD.

MichaelB argues somewhere in this very thread that they're there because they thematically tie to the film

Well, that's some egg on my face even if I don't entirely agree.

When do BFI usually officially announce their new releases?

To be honest, I wish more Blu-ray producers would think laterally like this instead of fixating on common directors/participants as the sole viable reason for including a short film. Not least because it's a great method of getting outstanding shorts back into circulation.

The BFI is consistently the best at this (the Flipside strand in particular), but then again they have a major advantage in having a massive library of potential titles on tap.

The Flipside ones (that I've seen) are really good at connecting narrative and theme together. I'm just unconvinced that the use of memory between the two films are all that similar in method or concern.

I really cannot fathom why you'd need to come up with any excuse to include a film as masterly as Tout la mémoire du monde at all, and surely supporting a film where one of the central characters is a librarian (and where a key scene takes place in her library) is as good a one as any?

Tout la mémoire du monde has been restored subsequent to its inclusion of the SC release of Last Year in Marienbad, so hopefully the BFI use the newer master.

Has there been any official word from the BFI that Celine and Julie is really getting a Blu release? I can get a pretty good price for the DVD right now, but I hate to part with it until I know for sure, and I don't always trust Amazon pages before official announcements.
