I’m modestly confused why you are all trusting a random Youtube commenter for the details of a thing we’ve known about for months

It’s very specific but also just clueless enough to sound legit— I could see some low level employee at the production plant leaking this. Assuming it to be accurate, it also doesn’t say “complete,” so either way it’s not a guarantee of the question mark film being included

It's not really math, just scientific notation

It's still disappointing it being the 1000th, Math or Scientific Notation

When has a giant boxset like that only warranted a 32 page booklet?

Could be a Toho requirement? But yeah, that makes me skeptical.

I think the 32-page "booklet" might just be the disc holders. She goes on to say "with dvds"

dda - we get it, man, you're disappointed by this month's slate of releases. You've posted some form of this sentence fragment multiple times in multiple threads now, I think you've gotten your point across. Might want to relax a little.

Agreed, I would expect that to be in addition to a book similar to the one in the Bergman set. Frankly, their four most massive collections being Godzilla, Bergman, Kurosawa and The Olympics really says a lot about the mission statement of Criterion and I see this being a perfect fit even if it doesn't accommodate everyone's tastes.

With 25 films, the Zatoichi box set should be included among their most massive releases. (And the number of discs in the original Dual Format release — 27 — even surpasses that of the AK 100 set.)

Those were added to the database by the forum user who keeps the Criterion thread updated. No insider info.

What's with the anime movies on there, though?

I guess there was no news about Godzilla coming out of Comic Con. We'll have to wait for next week if Godzilla is indeed the special announcement. We could've jumped the gun Godzilla could be announced August 15 for November. Next week could be something entirely different

They had a Godzilla panel at Comic Con, and nobody thought that would be a good time to announce a complete Showa era boxset?? #-o

I guess I’m glad I didn’t sell all my out of print Godzilla DVDs yet in the certainty that I could replace them in October?

Those out of print Classic Media DVD releases have different special features. They're worth keeping.

While this is probably accurate, we actually don’t know what special features will be on the speculated and unannounced Criterion box. It could feasibly have all the same stuff and more.

Sorry if I haven’t been following this closely, but we’re pretty much certain now that this is #1000, yeah?

I'd say it's pretty safe to assume that.

If King Kong Vs Godzilla is on this, I'd love multiple commentaries for all three versions (Japanese original, US version, Japanese Champion Festival version) so that we can hear from the likes of Messers Ryfle, Galbraith, Kalat, etc

I hope they load it with bonus material. I'm really hoping for some non-Godzilla Toho sci-fi in the box, too.

Here’s our Godzilla boxset, also featuring a bunch of non-Godzilla movies?

Can I say “da fuq” on this board?

Or maybe a separate box-set for those ones. Some of the movies are set in the same timeline though, such as Rodan.

Dont get ahead of yourself, they havent even officially announced a Godzilla set yet. Seems unlikely they would do additional sets.
