I don't get to see much TV and, therefore, not many commercials. Is that Brian Cox voicing a McDonald's commercial?

Been wondering the same thing, so good to know I’m not crazy. Certainly is a completely random choice if it is indeed him.wattsup32 wrote:I don't get to see much TV and, therefore, not many commercials. Is that Brian Cox voicing a McDonald's commercial?

I’m glad to see 1917 lose something it’s slated for, though Tarantino’s film deserved that one too

Re: Awards Season 2019
Natalie Portman had her dress embroidered with the names of female directors who weren't nominated this year, which begs the question: what female directors has Natalie Portman worked with during her storied career? Have there been any? Why is she making herself the face of this if she's at risk of being seen as a total hypocrite?

Well, she directed herself in that film no one saw a few years backmfunk9786 wrote: Mon Feb 10, 2020 2:47 am Natalie Portman had her dress embroidered with the names of female directors who weren't nominated this year, which begs the question: what female directors has Natalie Portman worked with during her storied career? Do we really need a rap summing up the ceremony so far? (And a bad one at that?)

Natalie Portman's very aware.beamish14 wrote: Mon Feb 10, 2020 2:49 amWell, she directed herself in that film no one saw a few years backmfunk9786 wrote: Mon Feb 10, 2020 2:47 am Natalie Portman had her dress embroidered with the names of female directors who weren't nominated this year, which begs the question: what female directors has Natalie Portman worked with during her storied career? She talks about this in This Changes Everything:
'Natalie Portman, who has been in the business for 25 years and has more than 50 acting credits, says, “I’ve worked with two female directors on features — and one of them is myself.”'

Gosh, if only Natalie Portman had the clout to choose her own projects.

Listen, I'm grateful she's working with Brady Corbet and not in some ridiculous supporting role in A Wrinkle in Time, but gimme a break

Still not holding my breath for the Academy Museum opening in December 2020. This thing has had an unbelievable number of false starts and delays.
However, they announced the specs on its two theaters, and they sound great. This will be the THIRD venue in L.A. that can screen nitrate!

The selfie museum just got a huge boost tonight, though, so the vacuum will be at least partially filled.beamish14 wrote:Still not holding my breath for the Academy Museum opening in December 2020. This thing has had an unbelievable number of false starts and delays.

Re: Awards Season 2019
It’s not all that meaningful a stat when Portman has starred in quite a few films featuring primary, complicated, and deeply rich female roles (Jackie, Black Swan, the Other Woman, not Garden State)

Re: Awards Season 2019
Everything about this Harriet Tubman movie seems as tone deaf as Chris Rock’s Haitian revolutionary movie in TOP FIVE.

She's the one making it her trademark issue, I'm just pointing out that it makes her look ridiculous. I think she's a fantastic artist.domino harvey wrote: Mon Feb 10, 2020 3:07 am It’s not all that meaningful a stat when Portman has starred in quite a few films featuring primary, complicated, and deeply rich female roles (Jackie, Black Swan, the Other Woman, not Garden State)

Her dress looks great even when you can’t read it, so there’s still that

I honestly don’t see how this is relevant at all.domino harvey wrote:It’s not all that meaningful a stat when Portman has starred in quite a few films featuring primary, complicated, and deeply rich female roles (Jackie, Black Swan, the Other Woman, not Garden State)
