I believe the story is that Cornfeld held the rights and gave them back to Soderbergh for this purpose.

That's crazy that Friedkin owns Sorcerer, since that was an extremely high-budget film (esp. compared to something like Kafka). He must have negotiated a pretty special deal. Or did he buy it back after the film had been released (and flopped)?

It was the result of a recent court case where basically no one was sure who had the rights so the judge gave them to Friedkin.

It turns out that Don Coscarelli and his co-writer Paul Pepperman own the rights to The Beastmaster.

Kill Switch re-titled No Sudden Move, cast list finalized and now includes Bill Duke, David Harbour, Frankie Shaw, and Julia Fox. And production has begun.
