It's the BBC TV series from 1972, which is on IMDb. It runs 892 minutes.Solaris wrote:Magna will be releasing the 1972 TV film of War and Peace on August 16.
Does anybody know the runtime of this film? IMDb doesn't have it listed. Is it shorter/longer than Bondarchuk's version?

Nice! In wonder if the upcoming UK edition from Arrow Films will be the same?Solaris wrote:Exterminating Angel includes:

Yup, it's the 1997 remake.
Fox released this twice in R4. I think the extras were the same, but the transfer was superior on the second release. What extras can we expect from this release?

Just a heads up for the local guys and girls. With the MGM catalogue reverting back yet again to Fox, it might be the time to pick up various titles you have been putting on the back burner (according to sources titles are already going oop). While Sony have been slow on new releases, they have been cheap with the MGM titles ($10-$20). No idea what Fox may do, but when they previously had the MGM stuff, prices were $25-$35, and to this day 90% of their back catalogue has a RRP of $23 (not counting the occasional promotion).

Three viewings of The Merry Widow last Sunday to recover from all the Eddy duets has cast the dreamy spell (and I've come around to believing it is superior to Love Me Tonight in so many ways.)
MC - 'You're the freshest Fifi I've ever met.'
JM - 'But a nice Fifi.'
MC - 'How nice?'
JM - 'Mmmmm not too nice.'
MC - 'Your right eye says yes. Your left eye says no. Fifi - your cock-eyed!'

Can't seem to track down Code Unknown in stores. Has Veronique been released yet? I can't seem to find that either - I guess I'll have to wait a month or two for an "official" NZ release or order online.
Code Unknown is a film that begs to be seen again. I found the style reminscent of Jarmusch's Stranger Than Paradise - "long take = single scene then fade to black". The story was all over the place though - need a few more viewings to make sense of it, I guess, so a DVD would be nice.

Based on what I've seen of RBC's DVDs it's probably a port of the Alpha R1 disc. Probably crap.Solaris wrote:Anyone know the quality of this disc? http://www.ezydvd.com.au/item.zml/228117

What the hell is going on with Warner down here? Do they have any clue? The upcoming John Wayne box in August will include the following titles - The Sea Chase, Blood Alley, The Train Robbers, McQ, Chisum and The Three Godfathers. Gob-smacking idiocy in comparison to what is being released elsewhere by Warner.

whoops - I had queried Solaris' Herzog listing (seemed very short), but then saw the ezydvd.com.au listing, 6 discs, 900 mins - looks like a port of the original box, so they've just neglected to list everything.. we should be right m8! Who distributes 'Shock' label?
