Ari Aster’s next film will be Disappointment Blvd. for A24, starring Joaquin Phoenix

Going by the plot, it sounds like new territory for Aster who has always depicted events occurring over acute time periods of gradually-swelling dread. I'll be curious how he manages to navigate his strengths with a very different scale of time, especially after his last film essentially did the inverse where it toyed with our processing of time by depicting a week's events over seemingly one looong day when going by our perceptual cues of the sun (well, not the director's cut, but still)

Ti West's next horror film, titled X, will shoot in New Zealand for A24 and BRON, starring Mia Goth, Brittany Snow, Kid Cudi

Not exactly a surprise since his sister is a leader at BRON studios, but Sam Levinson is sliding on as a producer

In Fassbender's defense, he's been sucked into a lot of franchises since his Oscar-nominated turn in Steve Jobs. I see he's done some other films too, but they didn't get nearly as much press/attention as all the X-Men shit, that video game movie and that last Aliens movie (he was already tied to most if not all of those franchises for years). But then again, he signed up for it, so he should have known what he was getting into.

Yeah that was just my succinct and unintentionally misleading way at saying that I want him to come back to the roles that really stress his talents. He's been in peripheries of the spotlight making good money and I don't blame him, but yeah he's hardly an out-of-work actor in need of a "comeback." Those roles he's chosen outside of franchises have been poor by all accounts though, so I'm glad to see him back on a winning team (even if those directors he was working with have good resumes, so just bad luck there).

God, between Assassin's Creed, Alien, the slow death of the X-Mens, and the disaster that was The Snowman, his presence has become a bad omen of sorts (though that's obviously not a knock on him as an actor)

I like his character in the Alien prequels, even if the films are flawed. His David is eerie yet engrossing, and one of those rare occasions where I completely forget the actor as he really becomes this.. thing

Man, I remember when there were THREE (Saturday morning?) cartoons on the air based on Carrey's hits: Ace Ventura, the Mask and Dumb and Dumber. You can even throw in a fourth if Batman counts.

Oh, lady twins now. I guess I was hoping that Jeremy Irons was also playing a long-lost triplet in the sequel. And yes, I know that there are complications with this potential storyline given the ending of the original film, but we are talking about bringing back “beloved characters” after all.

Not to be the woke police, but have people ever reckoned with the whole “Einhorn is Finkle” thing from the first Ace Ventura? Seems like grounds enough for people to not want to revisit the film.
