Interesting quote:
"We are currently working with The Film Foundation on William Deiterle’s All That Money Can Buy (1941) from the best and most complete elements, and Laurel and Hardy’s Pack Up Your Troubles. Parajanov: The Last Spring, is a documentary about the iconoclast Armenian film director Sergei Parajanov; the legendary Harold Lloyd-Preston Sturges collaboration, The Sin of Harold Diddlebock."

Re: Recent Film Restorations
This was missed here but Shochiku has restored a bunch of their films for their centenary. Films from Oshima, Ozu, Imamura and Shinoda are included.

Some of those already have 4K remasters, but the idea of Taboo scanned in 4K is exciting to me. Seeing as Janus Films’ massive Oshima retrospective resulted only in the Eclipse set and a few Blu-rays, I’m not holding my breath for a US release. Hoping Shochiku releases this in Japan in a fully subtitled a la their gorgeous Ozu releases.

Re: Recent Film Restorations
I would really like to see Taboo again as the last time I saw it on DVD the subs weren't even spelled correctly. I'd wager Taboo is more marketable than quite a few other Oshima films so I'm still holding out hope that Criterion might put it out. But the crown jewel that Criterion actually does own, Boy/Shonen is still MIA so who knows.

Re: Recent Film Restorations
I wondered why you were talking about the 1980 incest porn film, not least because it’s already been restored and released by Vinegar Syndrome, and then I remembered that the Oshima film was known as Gohatto in my neck of the woods.
