Re: Second Sight Films (UK)
Oh ok, so is there some embargo on this title across the Internet? I’d understand if it simply wasn’t listed as an option on the other sites, as is often the case with Diabolik or Rarewaves, but it’s listed by them without a buying option. Even Amazon.Uk seems to be above MSRP. Weird

Richard Rubenstein will not let them ship Dawn of the Dead outside of their licensed territory. It is safe to assume that this restriction will also apply to Martin

Not directly from Second Sight. Or, at least it wasn't supposed to be.

Re: Second Sight Films (UK)
You should just ask Second Sight or whichever retailer you wish to buy it from. Both SS & Diabolik are great at responding to any questions you might have. The label’s not said anything so it may just need restocking.therewillbeblus wrote: Mon May 02, 2022 11:57 pmCan we expect them to restock at Diabolik, Rarewaves, etc or is this typical practice for Second Sight to make SEs exclusive?

A store near me in Texas had at least 1 copy when I was there recently. If you can't find an easier way to get this item, I could buy it & ship it, if they still have it in stock.therewillbeblus wrote: Tue May 03, 2022 12:27 am Oh ok, so is there some embargo on this title across the Internet? Re: Second Sight Films (UK)
Looking back, I attempted to order the LE from multiple places (Base, Zavvi, Diabolik) because one of them fell through (Base?). I can't remember if I didn't try ordering directly because it wasn't possible or because it would have cost more

Thanks everyone- it's strange, the blu-ray seems available on various sites for import but not the UHD.. hopefully this is a temporary situation

Drive UHD delayed by a week
Unfortunately due to a delay in receiving the check disc for the Drive UHD, we have had to move the release date back by one week to June 6th to allow plenty of time for thorough QCing.
Many apologies for this inconvenience.

The UHD of The VVitch delayed until July 25th
Dear Customer,
Unfortunately we need to delay our release of The Witch a little longer until July 25th.
We’re very sorry about this further delay but are pleased to say that we've been working on a new HDR grade with Robert Eggers over the past few weeks and he has now fully approved this for our 4K UHD release. We're very grateful he was able to find time in a busy schedule to advise. We are now moving onto the encoding stage and just wanted to factor in more time for this and the QCing.

Just an observation with regards to the rights to Dawn of the Dead: the Museum of Moving Image in NYC is doing a series called Films of the Dead: Romero and Co from late June to July. But Dawn isn't listed on the schedule.

The MOMA is showing Rubinstein’s moronic 3-D version of it

Re: Second Sight Films (UK)
They’re showing “Martin”! Granted probably not the longer cut (we’ll see when the date and time are announced) but still that’s worth catching.
Also the original Stepford Wives, which remains OOP.

Re: Second Sight Films (UK)
Wait, this is getting confusing within this thread vs the Romero one: is Martin’s screening on U.S. soil in any way connected to Second Sight’s restoration? I understood that to be unlikely and thus an issue to import when it comes from the company

Second Sight have restored Picnic at Hanging Rock in 4k and the restoration will be screening at Ritrovato. Surely, a UHD announcement is going to follow soon.

The running time is 107 mins as per Ritrovata's website, so it would seem to be the Director's Cut.

Re: Second Sight Films (UK)
Director's cut as per the festival site. They're showing it in 35mm, no less. Wish I could be there, but if it turns up at the London Film Festival, or in the Australian season the BFI are putting on in Sept/Oct, I'll hopefully see it there.Finch wrote: Sat Jun 11, 2022 6:15 pm The running time is 107 mins as per Ritrovata's website, so it would seem to be the Director's Cut.

Re: Second Sight Films (UK)
FYI Second Sight's 4K of Dawn of the Dead has started to become available again from certain sites. Rarewaves has the SE back in stock, but moviemars is supposedly selling the LE for the same price on ebay et al. Not sure I trust that, seems too good to be true!

Re: Second Sight Films (UK)
If this is the moviemars listing, the UPC and the disc count match the SE despite the picture.therewillbeblus wrote: Mon Jun 13, 2022 6:01 pm FYI Second Sight's 4K of Dawn of the Dead has started to become available again from certain sites. Thanks brundlefly, I actually meant to circle back to this thread this morning- I reached out to them and checked the UPC and confirmed that as well. It's still available on Rarewaves for the cheapest price I've seen yet, shipping included, so I snagged it there

They had to drop the archival commentary track with Neil Marshall and the cast from their Dog Soldiers release. They replaced it with a commentary track from the producer.
