Revisions to the Paramount deal, per KL Insider:

"Dropped 8 titles: 50s / 4x70s / 80s / 90s / 2000s
Added 6: 70s / 80s (4KUHD) / 4x 2000s (2 4KUHD)

Also Added 4KUHD Rights to a title currently under license to us. We previously planned to release 16 titles on UHD, now 20."

6 specific titles announced so far of these 20

Unfortunately the Kino Insider has said that Applause has some sort of legal issues and Mamoulian's following film, City Streets, also "either had legal issues or was with another label"

I wouldn't be surprised if the 1910s film is one of these double feature films, since films from that era would likely be an even tougher sale than films from the later silent era.
Or the silent film double feature could be a double release of von Stroheim's BLIND HUSBANDS/FOOLISH WIVES -- both of which have gotten tasty restorations in recent years. FOOLISH WIVES ran a few months back at the San Francisco Silent Film Festival.

I haven't seen it, but I believe the film is actually, if you can believe it, a remake of Shanghai Express!

First title revealed from their latest, brand new Universal deal.

Per KL Insider:

52 movies - 3 TV movies - From 1910s to 2010s
2 TV shows
8 UHD (Red Dragon + 7 More)
38 - First Time on BD
I keep hoping one of their TV show acquisitions will be Amazing Stories

Even crazier, Peking Express is the second remake of Shanghai Express. Paramount kept going back to that well, updating the milieu for topicality. In Night Plane from Chungking it's the Second Sino-Japanese War, Peking Express communists.

Wasn't that one of the titles they said they asked for but couldn't get?

No, it was one of the titles that they said they'd be foolish to pass on if it was available to them. People read that response as it not being available to them, but KL Insider never actually said that.

Marathon Man was also phrased that way.

Thanks, I must have confused it with another title that they said they couldn't get.

Edited to add: It was North Dallas Forty that Kino said they couldn't get.

Has there been any hint from the Insider regarding Once Upon a Time in the West for a UHD release?

No hints but a 4K version is supposed to be coming out on Vudu (alongside Bringing Out the Dead), so at least we know that a 4K master exists.

Quite a cast. Anyone here like this film? I hadn't even heard of it until the KLI announcement.

A gritty war film. Kind of what you’d expect from Siegel. And typical of that era with the casting.

Hell Is for Heroes: a movie that abruptly ends because the production ran out of film before all the scripted scenes were filmed

Hopefully it's a substantial upgrade, and really interesting that a film that sat on the shelf for so long without a U.S. blu-ray release would get upgraded so fast. Must be a strong seller (and rightfully so)

By the time the release transpires, it’ll have been three years since the Blu-ray! (And the original release was of course delayed once Rian Johnson found out it was happening which resulted in a new transfer being done, which this can now directly tap).

KLSC just started going hard on the UHD train though, so I’m mostly surprised it’s being included in the camp of their early Greatest Hit titles. Three years is nothing next to how long some of us were pining for a blu release in the states at all! Very heartening reminder about the transfer too
