Re: On Ordering Indicator Releases
Indicator remove VAT so my prices only apply for that, but from a previous sale:
standard - £5.83
limited - £8.33
boxsets - £24.99
so the 7.99/9.99 looks accurate. I think £29.99 is the boxset price. it's a really incredible deal all around, with all the recent releases I'll easily clear the £200 shipping threshold this time. the cutoff is usually six months so Bogart and Universal Noir boxsets likely won't be included, but I'll probably pick them up anyway. since I'm in the States and very select Barnes and Noble stores get very select Indicator releases, I do try and support those where I can (plus I like picking up stuff from a store), but I definitely use these sales to "clear out", if you will. just wish they'd left the website up so I could plot things out a bit more...

If anybody's up for orchestrating a group buy this round, I (assume I will) have a few Noir box sets I'd like to tack on.

I may have to sit this one out. I'm still waiting for Thunderbolt to get released so I think I got everything I needed in the previous sale.

Sale is live. Looks like tons of titles down to 5.99. And just by eyeballing it, it seems a lot of more recent releases are still up for sale, including the Stanley Long box for 17.99.

Quite the sale, indeed! It's always curious to see which titles get excluded, like Oleanna. Also, since when do they simultaneously sell SE and LEs for certain titles? I spot a few

Re: On Ordering Indicator Releases
The SE / LEs are remnants from a previous sale where a batch of otherwise oop LEs were returned from a retailer (HMV?).

Didn’t know these were region free, I can finally get Wolf which is OOP in the states.

A lot of these 5.99 titles are an absolute steal - I highly recommend No Orchids for Miss Blandish, Time Without Pity, Birdy, and Spring Night, Summer Night.

Re: On Ordering Indicator Releases
this sale has been crazy. I'm able to make it happen but have to wait until Monday, and several titles (Light Sleeper and the Mexican horrors) have sold out completely without ever making it to the low stock list! I'd definitely act fast if you want to punch these in
I'm curious to see if Columbia Noir 3+4 sell through. we have another week to go

Was able to snatch La Llorona and The Phantom of the Monastery, figured both would sell out in an instant.

luckily if you still want the LEs at reasonable prices, Barnes and Noble, Orbit, Amazon et al have the US release available. I'd be surprised if those sold out entirely

I thought I was at 200 but they hadn’t removed VAT yet so I wound up adding a few more titles to make it over the threshold for “free” (in place of the high shipping charge to the U.S.) With the exchange rate the way it is right now, even the undiscounted new releases are pretty good deals

Re: On Ordering Indicator Releases
that's exactly what I did too, luckily after your first checkout attempt it does keep all the prices on the site the VAT-free ones, so you don't have to mess around too muchtherewillbeblus wrote: ↑Sat Oct 08, 2022 6:38 pmI thought I was at 200 but they hadn’t removed VAT yet so I wound up adding a few more titles to make it over the threshold for “free” (in place of the high shipping charge to the U.S.) With the exchange rate the way it is right now, even the undiscounted new releases are pretty good deals
I blind bought a lot cause if I really dislike anything, it is pretty friendly to resell it at a "normal" price (and I would, I don't believe in eBay gauging) and get a solid little return on it. but you're spot on about the new releases - by the time you wait out a sale and everything the price is essentially a sale price. sorry to all our UK friends (especially those who want to participate in the Criterion/Kino sales) but it's definitely the right time to stock up on UK releases and clear wishlists

Is Indicator now registered to IOSS, or do I risk getting hit by customs when ordering from outside the UK?

Re: On Ordering Indicator Releases
Seems they had a stock-taking error - I got an email yesterday apologising that they'd misrecorded numbers of Things Change and so I'd missed out. Oh well - I was more annoyed I'd missed out on the Mexican films and The Devil's Men which went out of print whilst they were in my basket!
I don't know if anyone else had the same issue - or if any other films were similarly miscounted.

Re: On Ordering Indicator Releases
So I imagine that those of us who pre-ordered The Big Gundown as part of the last sale will have a two month delay on the whole order. How am I gonna celebrate Christmas without a viewing of Remember the Night?

Oh that's almost certainly on the (*not my*) list, and from what I hear, one of the better titles too

Re: On Ordering Indicator Releases
Elf is good, yeah. Kind of like (and here's a comparison I never thought I'd make) Will Ferrell's Punch-Drunk Love, in that it takes his most annoying traits and turns them into a comedic strength.
Slightly more on-topic: my first thought was "this is fine - Indicator's always justified their release date changes with good additions," so it's slightly funny to see "we rarely have to take the difficult decision to move titles in this way." (I say this with love, I promise.)

Re: On Ordering Indicator Releases
Sorry, I've seen Elf, I just meant it's on my girlfriend's list and I don't like it very much but it's (almost certainly) better than stuff like Christmas with the Cranks. But I also recognize that most people who are just a few years younger than me adore Elf, having grown up with it as a Classic Christmas Movie, whereas I remember seeing it in theatres just before high school and being disappointed with Farrell's restrictions in the PG format (I shouldn't have been surprised, but c'mon, eighth grade boys are the worst)
