There's no 4K master of this, though I have to think one is in the offing. But if it is, I imagine it would get a splashy festival premiere and a Janus tour before Criterion released it.

Good to know. I saw the new re-release poster on the Jeanne Dielmann thread and though a restoration had been done recently.

Is it foolish to hope for a Red Balloon / Flight of the Red Balloon combo?

As in, the Albert Lamorisse film? You'd think that would be paired with Crin blanc (White Mane).

So we know 2 from the most likely 4. Any of the insiders (you and we know who you are  ) want to drop the full load before Monday?

They typically don’t like to pair films with different licensing situations. Janus owns the Lamorisse, but I think IFC still has the rights for the Hou.

Well, the other day I had nothing except Blast of Silence, obviously, but the posting of a Red Balloon photo changes things. Criterion released a box of Pasolini the year after the centenary of his birth (cleverly deflected by the umbrella title Pasolini 101), but has nobody noticed that Lamorisse was also born in 1922? Given the lag time on the Pasolini, isn't it possible that something more than an upgrade could be in the works? And the films would be an ideal Christmas gift for kids.

I'd been hoping for a 4K upgrade of BRAZIL in December, what with it being a Christmas movie and all, but I'm doubting it's gonna happen.

While I'd prefer Storefront Hitchcock, I'd settle for an easter egg.

Sleuth... not because I expect Bristol Myers to become altruistic, but because
if a drop of rain keeps falling on a stone for a thousand years (in this case around the
middle of each month) it just might happen. :)

It appears so. They’ve already sent out the email announcing December’s releases, so they don’t seem to be adding anything else.

But isn't there a possibility of more Criterion Contemporaries? I think the previous two announcements were made independently of the spine numbers.

I might be wrong, but I think the six Janus Contemporaries titles coming out in October and November are all of the films on their 2023 slate according to the original announcement. Plus, I would think anything else would stream on the Channel for at least a few months before getting a disc release.
