And it costs $24? I guess that is kinda funny

I believe it’s more intended to fund a bigger release especially because the other 2 years were for relatively cheaper prices.

I believe a previous instance of this involved the slipcover being a scratch-off to try to win a contest of some kind - and most collectors weren't looking to scratch up their new rare slipcover, so it's a deadlock.

Schrader has gained a lot of new fans amongst the younger crowd in recent years due to First Reformed and beyond, as well as Scorcese's continued popularity, and they seem to have gone through his filmography pretty well. sadly Touch doesn't seem to be one that has gained any sort of traction. bring on an Auto Focus disc!cdnchris wrote: Mon Apr 01, 2024 6:53 pm I'm tempted by Touch because of Schrader but really disliked it at the time. the Film Movement rerelease of Lily Chou Chou is another comically brazen cash grab, but given that movie's popularity (especially amongst the usual buy-everything-VS crowd), I expect it'll sell out in no time

Touch and Forever Mine are arguably Schrader’s nadir. It’s worth a rental at best

It's kind of funny that Red Rock West, far and away the most popular title (both in terms of general regard, and sales) in the Cinématographe line is Blu-ray only despite having a 4K restoration, and I half suspect the title would have been a VSU release if they felt comfortable putting an HDR pass over the material. Considering the other releases in the line, it absolutely stands out as an oddity on many levels.

Hence he was on Adam Friedland's show talking about cocaine.

"But then I thought, if you'll fuck your brother, who won't ya fuck?" -- Paul Schrader. (fuck in the sense of "fuck over", not the other thing.) Yes, it's just great to see how he's matured into a distinguished elder statesman and bon vivant.

Agreed, and then for Little Darlings to get a UHD instead! Not that I'm complaining thereWhat A Disgrace wrote: Wed Apr 03, 2024 5:21 pm It's kind of funny that Red Rock West, far and away the most popular title (both in terms of general regard, and sales) in the Cinématographe line is Blu-ray only despite having a 4K restoration, and I half suspect the title would have been a VSU release if they felt comfortable putting an HDR pass over the material. Totally disagree. I love both of these and consider Forever Mine among his best for its perverse romanticization (almost a Sirkian level melodrama) of a stalker narrative. Certainly I prefer them by far to the wildly over praised First Reformed (one of the few Schrader films I don't like).beamish14 wrote: Wed Apr 03, 2024 5:07 pm Touch and Forever Mine are arguably Schrader’s nadir. I love Skeet in this and just generally. I think he should have had a far better career and am surprised he did not (same goes for Johnathon Schaech). I think the reason Touch hasn't garnered many new fans since its release simply has to do with its scarce availability. The Narrator Returns wrote: Mon Apr 01, 2024 7:05 pmI like Touch though mostly as a goofy trial run for what Schrader tackles in First Reformed (the added Ed Lachman doesn't hurt either). The I Love the 90s cast is a lot of fun in hindsight, unfortunately the one bad casting decision is the lead.cdnchris wrote: Mon Apr 01, 2024 6:53 pm I'm tempted by Touch because of Schrader but really disliked it at the time. Looks like Bruce McDonald's Roadkill (1989) is coming soon from CIP.

Nice. I hope we get the two Hard Core Logo films and The Tracey Fragments, too

I've found Roadkill underwhelming across two viewings, but I know it has its many fans. The Tracey Fragments, on the other hand, is incredible. I could see VS or a partner label going after it

I was just browsing the TIFF Library holdings the other day. McDonald made a lot of short films in the 80’s, and I hope those are represented here
I’d kill to see American Whiskey Bar, which aired once on Canadian television but is impossible to find

Singapore Sling is one of the best-looking blu-ray discs I've viewed in some time. The level of detail is extraordinary. Now, this is not exactly a safe blind-buy, and I'm not sure what it says about me that I find this brilliant and most other films of its ilk repulsive on a surface level, but it's worth seeing just to have the experience. If Tennessee Williams and Harold Pinter took a bunch of acid and decided to collaborate on a play based on physicality over language, but still rooted in perverse relationship dynamics, we might get something like this

I'm hoping that Paul Morrissey's SPIKE OF BENSONHURST makes it to Cinematographe.
I'm very fond of the picture. It's got a real whacky energy, seems to be a film that has fallen through the cracks, and falls within their wheelhouse.

They're also selling rolling papers and grinders, though I honestly think most of their core audience are not allowed to toke up in their mom's basement so they may not have thought this through

Those would have to be some independently-wealthy teens, this label drains their core audience's accounts

God, I paid over 3X that. I wonder if it’s a really low mover. Regardless, I hope more pick it up at that price and enjoy the wonders within

On the other end of the age spectrum, I’m waiting for KLSC to start offering Depends and/or prune juice bundles with BD purchase.domino harvey wrote: Sat Apr 20, 2024 8:13 pm They're also selling rolling papers and grinders, though I honestly think most of their core audience are not allowed to toke up in their mom's basement so they may not have thought this through

I was going to wait until the Halfway sale, but even after shipping and taxes this is a better price and the limited edition will be gone before I finish tonight's viewing of Rocky II.beamish14 wrote: Sat Apr 20, 2024 8:21 pmGod, I paid over 3X that. That's a bargain price for Kani's release of Will Your Heart Beat Faster?, which also contains the 1947 feature Miss Philippines as an extra.
On that note, judging by their social media, Kani are continuing their Filipino releases with Marilou Diaz-Abaya's Moral. They've also filmed an interview with Joel Torre for something, I'd put money on Diaz-Abaya's Karnal as it's considered part of a thematic trilogy along with Moral and Brutal. Or maybe they'll get into the Lav Diaz game with Batang West Side.
