Oppenheimer (Christopher Nolan, 2023)

Surprised to read how many board members are on board for Nolan's work and Oppenheimer which, for me, is a toss up between this and The Prestige as his best. Namely because those are the films that have the best constructed scripts to go along with his filmmaking talents. Dunkirk, I enjoyed, loved the fact that it exists but, it's that which to me is the children's film many lob critically towards Oppenheimer.

I don't recall Einstein depicted as anything like what you describe. And I think the fact that the movie has Oppenheimer constantly return to Einstein for advice, guidance, and whatever else gives the lie to your description.

You're right but, I didn't like the Einstein character either. He felt drawn based on the pop culture image of him as opposed to the man himself. He wasn't too important of a character so it didn't matter much but, his presence whenever he popped up did take me out of the film's cinematic world they'd work so hard to create. Many felt that way about the sex scene but, I had no problem with it, and got what he was going for with including that.

James Woods says he agreed to step back and remain quiet about the film because emphasizing whatever connection he had to it would’ve hurt its chances at awards and financial success.

I'm sure an extra zero or two helped our free speech warrior abandon his principles.

Is the voice on the recording that plays when Truman announces that the bomb was dropped Gary Oldman or actually Truman? Saw something on reddit saying it was Truman’s voice. Idk why but I just figured in keeping with how he would be seen later they would have used Oldman’s voice to reproduce it.
