I have the Blu Ray from 2014 but will probably upgrade to this or the Umbrella release.

Supervixens is an interesting one - does this mean that the Russ Meyer estate's iron grip on his rights and 35mm pre-print materials has finally been broken?

It sounds tenaciously like it. Or at least Severin figured out the cheat code to butter them up as Criterion did Eustache.

Is Faster Pussycat Kill Kill? still with Fox or is that with the estate too?

It never was with Fox. Meyer's estate released it on Blu-ray a few years ago, but that appears to have been a one-off testing-the-water experiment.

Fox's two titles were Beyond the Valley of the Dolls and The Seven Minutes, the latter of which we were sadly unable to upgrade to HD, although God knows we tried, including going via personal contacts with the company. But given what subsequently happened to the Fox catalogue I have no regrets whatsoever about biting the bullet and releasing The Seven Minutes on DVD only.

I posted this in the Russ Meyer thread, so I'll do it here too. Severin's Andrew Furtado tweeted
This is a secret I've had to keep for 5 damn years as we have been working to be the company to access the RM Films vault. Lots of ups and downs... But that's what you want from a Russ Meyer film, right?!

Hopefully, this is just the tit of the iceberg.

I placed a first-time order during the last sale two months ago, and still no sign of it. From reading the thread in the other place I'm impressed by how Severin operates this way consistently, a really impressive show of force against their customers. Criterion could learn a thing or two.

Criterion could indeed learn a thing or two; they could put a clear sale delivery time section on their website for customers to refer to like Severin did. We are still very much within that period. I ordered within the first few days of the sale (6 weeks ago or so) and my order is only being delivered Monday.

“Incredible” news about the Ed Woods (although a shame Panty Girls wasn’t included to complete his hardcore period!). Can’t wait to check out Wood’s absolute nadir.

Supposedly the Russ Meyers "Vixen" trilogy was going to come out in December. Wonder if the package has been pushed back; or if it will now be a Black Friday announcement.

Splatterfest Exhumed on disc three of their Scala package runs 80 minutes. I'm admittedly biased (a) because I was at the event that's being exhumed (the all-day all-night Splatterfest event from 1990), so there's a built-in nostalgia factor there from the start, and (b) as a result, I'm one of the talking heads, but I absolutely loved this - I had no idea at the time of filming that they'd be going into such forensic behind-the-scenes detail about the logistical challenges of setting an event like this up in the first place and what to do when things go wrong (especially on the night). And I knew next to nothing of this at the time because I was merely a paying customer.

And it was a particularly interesting experience to be on the other side of the camera in someone else's film, because coherently recalling events from nearly three and a half decades ago is hard! And 1990 is recent compared with the age of the memories that my colleagues and I usually try to tease out of people.

Russ Meyer's titles are up for pre-order
Russ Meyer's Vixen.
“THE QUINTESSENTIAL RUSS MEYER FILM.”
Roger Ebert

THE WORLDWIDE UHD/BLU-RAY PREMIERE
AVAILABLE IN 4K AND HD FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER
RESTORED UNCUT WITH 3+ HOURS OF SPECIAL FEATURES

Amid the cultural chaos of 1968 and armed with a budget of only $70,000, producer/director/cinematographer Russ Meyer transcended sexploitation by crafting this “bosomacious melodrama” (Time Magazine) about racism, communism, bush pilots, draft dodgers and a ferociously free-spirited wife named Vixen (the incredible Erica Gavin of BEYOND THE VALLEY OF THE DOLLS and CAGED HEAT). Despite attempts at censorship that included one of the first-ever X ratings and 23 separate U.S. prosecutions for obscenity, it became one of the year’s top-grossing movies, forever transformed independent film and remains the creative template for Meyer’s unapologetic vision of American cinema. VIXEN is now scanned in 4K from the original negative restored by The Museum of Modern Art with over 3 hours of new and archival Special Features curated by Severin Films in conjunction with The Russ Meyer Trust.

“RUSS MEYER AT HIS OUTRAGEOUS BEST.”
Los Angeles Herald-Examiner

THE WORLDWIDE UHD/BLU-RAY PREMIERE
AVAILABLE IN 4K AND HD FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER
RESTORED UNCUT WITH 3+ HOURS OF SPECIAL FEATURES

Following the ‘serious’ features THE SEVEN MINUTES and BLACK SNAKE, this 1975 return to form written, photographed, edited, produced and directed by Russ Meyer remains perhaps his most over-the-top and savagely entertaining epic of all: When a hot-blooded wife (Shari Eubank) and a psychotic cop (a startling performance by Charles Napier of THE BLUES BROTHERS fame) come together, it will ignite a cross-country odyssey of violence, vengeance and relentless coitus. John Lazar (BEYOND THE VALLEY OF THE DOLLS), Uschi Digard (BENEATH THE VALLEY OF THE ULTRAVIXENS) and Haji (FASTER, PUSSYCAT! KILL! KILL!) co-star in Russ’ “super-sexy live-action Road Runner cartoon” (Empire), now restored by Severin Films in conjunction with The Russ Meyer Trust and scanned in 4K from the original negative stored at The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences.

“HIGHLY RECOMMENDED…
Everything in this film has been kicked into overdrive –
the dialogue, the narration, the sex, the whole look,
all come blasting down on you with both barrels.”
Rock! Shock! Pop!

THE WORLDWIDE UHD/BLU-RAY PREMIERE
AVAILABLE IN 4K AND HD FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER
RESTORED UNCUT WITH 2+ HOURS OF SPECIAL FEATURES

The final feature produced, photographed, edited and directed by Russ Meyer is a wicked take on Our Town, co-written by Meyer and Pulitzer Prize winner Roger Ebert (BEYOND THE VALLEY OF THE DOLLS). Russ’ latter-day muse Francesca ‘Kitten’ Natividad stars – along with Uschi Digard, Ann Marie, June Mack, Candy Samples and Russ himself – in this unwashed look at Small Town, U.S.A., complete with faith healers, war criminals, bosom buddies and the loin-girding quest for sexual salvation. Because the original elements for BENEATH THE VALLEY OF THE ULTRAVIXENS had been stored in less-than-optimal conditions, Severin Films devoted months to the painstaking restoration of its weather-damaged negative before scanning it in 4K and compiling over 2 hours of new and archival footage, all with the blessing and cooperation of The Russ Meyer Trust.

Too bad there isn't a bundle that's not the ultra-deluxe merch bundle. I'm definitely going to be waiting for a sale on these (though ironically I believe they're much cheaper than the official laserdisc editions from two decades ago).
