Anya Taylor-Joy is Gorge. Sorry. Anya Taylor-Joy is in Scott Derrikson's The Gorge, which here looks a little like Annihilation, but rom-com.

Trailers for Upcoming Films
I don’t think I’ve ever seen a trailer more thoroughly and methodically spoil the exact movement of its plot.

Re: Trailers for Upcoming Films
Rob Tregenza's The Fishing Place
Anna Kristiansen, imprisoned by the Nazis during the German occupation of Norway, finds herself in a precarious position when Norwegian Nazi Officer Aksel Hansen secures her release. Her freedom comes with a daunting price. Anna is dispatched to the hydroelectric town of Notodden to spy on Adam Honderich, a German High Church Lutheran Minister/Priest suspected of resistance activities. Conflicted by the moral ambiguity of her situation, but given only three days to succeed, she must survive sudden obstacles, the brutality of war, gestell, rapidly shifting cultures, all while seeking some final hope of redemption. The Minister/Priest goes fishing.

Re: Trailers for Upcoming Films
The first film starring Geoffrey Rush in six years following his 'troubles' will have him being terrorised by a puppet wielding John Lithgow in a nursing home in The Rule of Jenny Pen. (I like to hope they'll reach the lofty heights of Mr Flibble from Red Dwarf)

Re: Trailers for Upcoming Films
A January-level batch.
Paul W.S. Anderson's adaptation of George R.R. Martin's In the Lost Lands, starring M. Jovovich and D. Bautista.
Reaffirming MUBI's commitment to unnecessarily subtitling trailers for films starring Barry Keoghan: Christopher Andrews' Bring Them Down. As an L.A. Rams fan, I plan on awkwardly re-utilizing the line, "Where there's livestock, there's dead stock."
Drew Hancock's Companion, which looks it might be a mash-up of Made for Love, Westworld (TV), and Brendan Steere's Animosity?
Valentine's day serial killings in Heart Eyes. Christopher Landon is one of three credited screenwriters. From Josh Ruben, who directed the middling comedy-horror time-wasters Werewolves Within and Scare Me, and who also did this impersonation of a crowd of 10,000 people saying, "I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice Chianti."

Re: Trailers for Upcoming Films
Barry Levinson directs Robert De Niro opposite Robert De Niro (and Debra Messing?) in Alto Knights. Are the odds better that De Niro bothers to fully care about one of his two performances or that he divides his half-interest between the two? From a Nicholas Pileggi script.
Also, because Danielle Deadwyler, Jaume Collet-Serra's The Woman In The Yard.

The 2024 version of Emmanuelle was released in UK cinemas on Friday and has been getting quite scathing Guardian reviews. But I'm curious as to how the film is going to turn out.

It's not just The Guardian, 18% on RT. If they'd remade Emanuelle and the Last Cannibals with this cast instead, my interest would be piqued.

I'm just hoping that every orgasm in the film is accompanied by the trailer's ominous rumbling noise!

Christopher Landon's Drop, which I'm praying is not as straightforward as it looks. Though it's from the writers of Fantasy Island (2020), so.

Re: Trailers for Upcoming Films
Maybe he jumped on an available job after his Scream movie fell apart (he would have been perfect for that!). And where is that third Happy Death Day movie which I thought was going to happen after all? I'm less excited about a Christopher Landon movie that he didn't also write but this looks like it could be fun. Reminds me of the type of one-location high-concept thriller Larry Cohen wrote screenplays for in the early 2000s.

This actually looks like a lot of fun. A twist on When a Stranger Calls plus the social media horror sub-genre, surveillance thrillers, single-location and real-time thrillers, and... The Lonedale Operator.

Yeah, Landon is a director of such wit that I can easily see him exploring the possibilities of this kind of premise to creative proportions, like repurposing Nerve into a horror film

Re: Trailers for Upcoming Films
Until Dawn, which is apparently an in-title-only spin-off of the 2015 video game with an entirely different plot and characters (it kind of looks as if it is going into Cabin In The Woods-meta territory from that trailer), but does seemingly have Peter Stormare reprising his character!

It's been six years since the second one, and the cast will have aged to the point where it'll be impossible to buy them replaying the same day over and over (unless there's a big time jump). The Curious Sofa wrote: Wed Jan 22, 2025 4:44 pm And where is that third Happy Death Day movie which I thought was going to happen after all?
