Finally. It’s never had a decent home video release. Hope they get a jazz expert to discuss Peterson’s score

Does anyone here own the KL release of "Wanted: Dead or Alive" starring Rutger Hauer? I bought the UK Signal One release because it carried over all the extras and added an additional interview. However, the interview with Mel Harris runs 6:08 when DVDCompare states it runs 6:50 on the US release. I'm trying to find out if DVDCompare has the runtime wrong or if the interview has seemingly been altered for the UK release.

I thought the Blu-Ray was subpar? Regardless, it’s a favorite, and I’m very happy to get a 4K of it

Re: Kino Lorber Studio Classics
The Universal release had a commentary track from him, and other EPK stuff to it. I saw this in theatrical release and remember it rather vividly. A 4K release of this anywhere is most welcome.

How much of that is that Criterion is willing to wait a long time for contributions from filmmakers and Kino's model is to get stuff out ASAP?beamish14 wrote: Thu Jan 02, 2025 9:37 pm

I thought that the KL Insider said that they made an effort to contact his office and did sit on the older releases for at least a bit.dwk wrote: Fri Jan 03, 2025 12:04 amHow much of that is that Criterion is willing to wait a long time for contributions from filmmakers and Kino's model is to get stuff out ASAP?beamish14 wrote: Thu Jan 02, 2025 9:37 pm

They have postponed some releases due to attempting to create extras that didn’t materialize. I remember them saying this about John Frankenheimer’s The Challenge

Re: Kino Lorber Studio Classics
Ah yes, The Snowman. A film so terrible - and supposedly unfinished - that not even Thelma Schoonmaker could salvage it in the edit. You can actually hear Kino scraping the bottom of the barrel here.
Should have gone for the animated The Snowman instead.

On the other hand, Folding Ideas' video essay on that train wreck is terrific. The idea that they might have failed to even colour grade the movie is wild.
