I noticed on the new 4K of GODZILLA '54, the subtitles "correct" a factual error in the dialogue, where Dr Yamane refers to dinosaurs living 2 million years ago (the subs now say 200 million years ago), which is repeated by the on-the-spot reporter during Godzilla's later rampage, and is carried over to the US version as well. Not sure why Criterion bothered to change the subtitles, as David Kalat still calls out the "Flintstones science" in his audio commentary!

"I'll feed you stupid cows to Godzilla!" is softened for the 4K release as well. That one may have been kind of a liberal interpretation, but what a line!

Kinda disappointed that this doesn't include a 4K version of King of the Monsters.
Eventually they'll do a new transfer for that one. This could have waited until then, IMO.

Everyone should check their copies especially if you were storing it upright for a while now.

I opened the Godzilla box set "book" that contained all 8 blu-ray discs and was shocked that Disc One was missing. Turns out it had slipped between the cardboard sleeve/page and lodged itself down at the bottom next to Disc 5. Part of the edge of the disc was covered with glue. I managed to clean it off and it plays without any problems that I've noticed.

I am now storing the discs in plastic blu-ray containers instead of that "book."

Its the best looking case they make, but also the worst for storing discs. I recommend buying a custom case off etsy to store the discs.
