It matches the TAT and the "a couple of serial killers" clues, is apparently pretty hard to find, and sounds pretty Radiance-like.
insane guess, bravo. that was a great dig!

happy about The Ogre of Athens

I guess Volker Schlondorff’s The Ogre with John Malkovich is too obvious

This rarity has just been released by Mustang Entertainment Italy on DVD for the first time anywhere...

Image

It exists in a new 4K 2022 restoration making it suitable for release on BluRay. It was restored in 4K by CSC-Cineteca Nazionale and Associazione Officina Cultura e Territorio, in collaboration with Azione Cattolica Italiana, promoted by CAST of UniNettuno with the support of ISACEM at the Cinecittà Spa laboratory (Rome).

UK Premiere of 4K Restoration of The Gates of Heaven actually screens @ NFT 2 BFI Southbank on Tuesday 3rd June...

A fascinating early Vittorio De Sica film - un’opera di straordinaria intensità spirituale e storica - made with the support of the Vatican in 1944 during the German occupation of Rome & remarkable too for the circumstances of its' production...
Vittorio de Sica hired approximately 300 extras, who were Jewish or simply being persecuted by the Nazi regime, because of their physical oddity. To avoid their deportation and later execution, he prolonged the shooting of the film as long as he could, awaiting the arrival of the allied armies.
Maybe worth Radiance's consideration...

Either the ogre clue is not The Ogre of Athens (or the Volker Schlondorff film either) but something else, OR they're pushing it back to next month like they did with The Cat. Are there any Japanese, Spanish, or French titles about ogres?

Why couldn't Pontecorvo's Operacion Ogro be the Spanish film?

It's not mine: TMDaines came up with it on the previous page.

A Radiance rep said on the Discord that " behind-the-scenes tinkering mean last week's tease was a bit outdated", so I would guess that means that the ogre tease will not apply to any of the releases announced this morning.

It surely will be, but I suppose it's not unlikely that Radiance picked up more than one film from the licensor. But if it's licensed from Films59, there doesn't look to be much that they would go for other than maybe José Luis Guerín's Train of Shadows...

Seems like they went with In My Skin as the French New Extremity 4K, which is honestly a good choice but I was really really hoping it would be Pola X

Guessing next month we'll get all-horror, since it's October and that tends to be the theme (with Radiance especially). So I'm assuming 'DAI' is for Daiei Gothic Vol. 2, and if 'DAU' is Daughters of Darkness, is 'MAL' also Malpertius? You'd think those would go in a double-set since they're both directed by Kümel and released the same year, so I guess we'll see next month.

Apparently 'HIS' (Godard's Histoire(s) du cinema) and 'WNN' (I'd assume 'World Neo Noir') have both been pushed to 2026. So I imagine November/December will include The Ogre of Athens, Le notte bianche ('NB'), and of course the much-anticipated Oshima box set.

I truly hope they can go all-out with Oshima and include incredibly elusive titles like The Catch and Band of Ninja

Very glad I held off on buying Godard’s Histoire(s) on DVD

I'm scratching my head as to how Pola X would fit into New French Extremity. Is a bit of industrial music enough to qualify?

Well, the unsimulated sex probably tips it into that category, no pun intended

I feel like that'd be very welcome but I highly suspect it'll be mostly HD-ready titles (Death By Hanging, Boy, The Ceremony), plus The Man Who Left His Will on Film which Radiance helped restore (alongside Carlotta). AFAIK, The Catch, Diary of Yunbogi, Band of Ninja, Diary of a Shinjuku Thief and Dear Summer Sister were all still SD, unless Carlotta decided to restore some of those as well - fingers crossed they figured something out, particularly with The Catch and/or Diary of a Shinjuku Thief.

The Sun's Burial, Night and Fog in Japan and even The Catch might still be controlled by Shochiku (whether that complicates things or not, who knows). Pleasures of the Flesh, Violence at Noon, Sing a Song of Sex, Japanese Summer: Double Suicide and Three Resurrected Drunkards may still be tied up with Criterion (we will never know). I think Jeremy Thomas may have the UK rights for Taboo, if anyone should want to look into restoring it...

I had no idea that Max Mon Amour has a French Blu from Studio Canal now!

I often think Band of Ninja should get a standalone release from someone; maybe it’ll appeal a bit to the anime crowd?

Count me in as another voice clamouring for The Catch.

Is the 2k restoration for La Terra Trema the most up to date restoration?

Anyone else had issues when signing up to the website? I received an email asking me to activate my account, but the activation link doesn't work, or rather there is no link - only a box stating 'Activate your account' but when I click it nothing happens and holding a mouse over confirms that there is no link attached.

Yes, this has happened a couple times (and I already have an account). When I try to log in it doesn't recognize my password
and when I try to reset it by sending a code to my email I never receive it. Might want to let them know.
