Same here. Loving Vincent is one of my favorite scores, Mansell has never missed in my eyes.beamish14 wrote: Wed May 21, 2025 4:13 pm Did Aronofsky and Clint Mansell have a falling out? I wish he was scoring this

Double feature from hell. I wish Bill Condon would stop ruin musicals and the latest Luc Besson abomination looks like all my least favourite Dracula adaptations rolled into one.

Based on a novel and a Tony-award winning musical... yes, and the YouTube description seems very eager to not mention

Because they have rights to the original story and not the re-worked screenplay? I can't remember how the hostility between Puig and the original film played out -- there was a pretty extensive doc on the DVD release (as well as a featurette promoting the then-new musical) -- but perhaps the estate didn't want to emphasize Babenco's film either?

I liked the novel but I’ve never been a fan of the film or of Hurt’s performance, which almost makes a case that straight actors shouldn’t play gay characters (a view I don’t subscribe to). And I‘m not sure the film still is much in the cultural memory.

Re: Trailers for Upcoming Films
I actually think Springsteen is great and Nebraska is the best album he's ever done, but the narration plays right into the Dave Marsh/Jon Landau mythologizing that's really off-putting. (As admirable as his actions may be, Springsteen is not exactly the only rock star or public figure to confront their personal struggles while trying to use their work and fame to make the world a better place.) But if the lines are coming from the character of Jon Landau, maybe the film will be self-aware about this?brundlefly wrote: Wed Jun 18, 2025 12:59 pm Scott Cooper, Jeremy Allen White, and Jeremy Strong are going to BRING AUTHENTICITY BACK TO LIFE.
