Thanks, so Lionsgate is trying to be A24 but for 4k restorations of older titles? I went to the website & noticed they released UHDs of Meatballs & Basic Instinct among others, but didn't see anything about those releases from my normal channels (Amazon & blu-ray.com). I don't really want them, but I'm just surprised I heard nothing about them. So we have to subscribe to all the studios' email lists to know what's getting released directly from each studio now because they won't necessarily be on Amazon now? I can still see Criterion releasing standard editions for some of these these when the limited direct-from-the-studio edition has run its course (Stop Making Sense, Zone Of Interest...), but given that Amazon US sales of import UHDs is probably eating away at sales, I guess that will be later rather than sooner then.

Who in the hell knows what Lionsgate is trying to do. It strikes me as incredibly self-destructive to limit nearly all of your product to one website that doesn't even ship to Canada.

I always think, even after all these years, they love to seize on the chance to redo things they had laserdisc rights to - which would mean Unbearable Lightness would be option 1. New owners, though, so maybe those days are over.
