Agreed .The ship has probably sailed for today. But for people to assume it’s automatic that they don’t announce on Fridays is silly

Did not say they didn't but it seems in recent memory they haven't and have pushed to Monday.

That was as much for the people on the other forum. Sometimes they're ridiculous. Anyway, February and March of this year we had announcements on Fridays

They have uploaded a closet video with Ronan Farrow, so we can certainly say that an Annie Hall 4K isn't in the mix

Slim chance we might still get late announcements today like August last year is that they updated the banner on the coming soon page to Nightmare Alley.

That’s probably because the last image was You Can Count on Me, which is no longer coming soon (having been released)

I hope they will announce:

Kira Muratova set #2
Sideways 4K
Eyes Wide Shut 4K
Complete Rene Laloux 4K (all new restorations)
Inherent Vice 4K
Red Beard 4K
Eraserhead 4K
Trouble in Paradise (Upgrade)
Il Gattopardo 4K

But I would gladly settle for any subset of the above.

Maybe he did an interview for The Fog of War, as he basically made propaganda on behalf of the government’s war machine

Unless they truly believe any publicity is good publicity - a NY Times editorial from Ronan accusing Criterion of being a two-faced whore for announcing a Woody Allen box set is surely a marketing bonanza!

Criterion has clearly delayed their announcements because they're putting the final touches on that Raul Ruiz 4K boxset that I've been dreaming of! 🙌 (also an untampered-with WKW box they snuck in while Wong is busy with his TV series)

Maybe they're pulling an Epstein. 😆 Getting a video of his praise in advance of a release of Allen 4Ks to undercut any future attack. And it's not just random praise, but one in which Ronan specifically asks Criterion to bring a Polanski title back into print because it is such compelling portrait of women's vulnerability & agency (can't recall exact wording but that's the gist).

Maybe Farrow heard of a WA Box Set and decided he can organize a Criterion employee boycott, similar to Hachette.

Regardless what Ronan thinks…-as if anyone cares…at least four WA films are considered in the ‘canon’ and deserve to be in the collection:

Annie Hall
Manhattan
Hannah and Her Sisters &
Crimes and Misdemeanors.

As an actor alone, I’d argue that The Front is there, too. Criterion does love Martin Ritt

Wasn’t he just added into the collection as an actor? King Lear.

Needle Park is Disney now, so that’s out. Scarecrow seems to be a no-brainer, but who can tell anymore. I really wish his 1989 collaboration with Harold Pinter, Reunion, would get some love

Reunion and Scarecrow are probably my two favorite Schatzberg films. They screened a DCP of Reunion at MoMA, and it definitely deserves a reissue of some kind - I don't think it's even been released on DVD or Blu-ray in the U.S.

The French Connection is also with Disney now, but it's more or less confirmed that Criterion will release it. So I wouldn't say The Panic in Needle Park is downright out.

I can imagine there are numerous Fox titles that would have priority over Needle Park if Criterion was finally able to license Fox titles from Disney, starting with Laura, Grapes of Wrath, The Hustler, and M.A.S.H.

Not the Needle Park isn’t Criterion worthy.

Personally, I’d like to see Hombre since Hud is on the horizon.

The Indicator release is great if you have a region-free player.

I have it in the indicator Hammer box, Faces of Fear, and that one is region free. Did they lock the single disc release?

Ahh you're right. The age 12 circle on the front makes me think region B by default
