Would be wonderful to have any Tanner stateside after a few of the restorations over the past years, but it seems it's a Gaumont title. At least if they ever decide to release it (seems eventual, c'mon France), english subs would probably be included as per a majority of their BD's (most, but not all). I almost booked it to Cleveland or wherever I think it was traveling through last year, but why not wait a little bit longer :x

Taking Off (Foreman)
Desplechin Whole Ball O' Wax Box (w/ scratch n' sniff bibliosmia card)
A Real Young Girl (Breillat)
Sayles MGM Early Years Box (Lianna / Brother / Secacus 7)

^ The Third Man is out through Lionsgate. A 4K of Odd Man Out would be most welcome though.

A DCP of Never Cry Wolf screened at the American Cinematheque with Carroll Ballard and Charles Martin Smith in person earlier this year. No forthcoming release mentioned. It’s handily one of the top 5 films to ever be released by the studio, even with acknowledging some of the dubious qualities of Farley Mowat’s journalism

I somehow doubt that Criterion is going to be the label that eventually releases E. Elias Merhige’s Begotten — a film that Susan Sontag proclaimed to be “an extraordinarily original accomplishment”, but I hope someone does soon. It might be more up Radiance’s alley, or maybe a label with a much more experimental bent.

I could see Criterion releasing Merhige’s Shadow of the Vampire. Frankly, I’m shocked no-one has yet, especially given Robert Eggers’ recent remake of Nosferatu.

I’d love a release of the trilogy that Begotten forms the first part of. It’s absolutely crazy how he made his own optical printer to create it

Never done this before ... and am too lazy to do it properly. So I’m just gonna meta-pick 5 favorites of the aforementioned predictions:

Zabriskie Point (olmo)
Tropical Malady (Close The Door, Raymond)
Point Blank (therewillbeblus)
Alice Doesn’t Live Here Anymore (TBickle020776)
Birth (dwk)

Good luck guys!

Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore [4K / Blu-ray]
Lolita [4K / Blu-ray]
Network [4K / Blu-ray]
Paths of Glory [4K / Blu-ray] (Re-release)
The Sweet Hereafter [4K / Blu-ray]

Zero chance all of these get announced today, but I hope Criterion decides to prioritize Warner titles before Ellison snatches up the library.

They’re up:

Kiss of the Spider Woman 4K
Birth 4K
The Dead 4K
Caught by the Tides (Criterion Contemporaries)
Captain Blood 4K
Martin Scorsese WCP Volume 5

And 4K upgrades of Yi Yi and Dead Man.

P.S. No “day one must-owns” for me. If I get Yi Yi on 4K I’ll probably go with Carlotta.
