Re: The Wes Anderson Archive: Ten Films, Twenty-Five Years
I have the same player that has had similar issues with other discs at times. The first thing I suggest is to open the disc tray and blow a few quick bursts of canned air into the player. If your player is anywhere near old as mine it could be a bit of debris on the laser that's on the lens of the laser. But, it can be a number of things. Restarts often work for me when cleaning the disc or lens isn't successful. Just make sure you wait about two minutes until turning the power back on after a power off.

I cannot say I like the look of Darjeeling Limited on the 4K UHD disc color-wise. From my only theatrical viewing during its original run, I remember the beautiful golden hues and bold red, blue, and yellow colors practically popping off the screen in many scenes. I thought the original CC Blu-ray was pretty accurate in that regard. But in this new 4K version (as well as the accompanying Blu-ray), the colors seem excessively muted, almost desaturated in many scenes. Has anyone else noticed this?
Otherwise, it's a lovely presentation with noticeable improvements in all other areas.

I got this for Christmas and wanted to file it away with the individual films lined up on my shelf, outside of the box. However, the spines are frustratingly misprinted to where the alignment looks quite off when displayed this way. A minor issue for sure but an ironic one given Anderson’s meticulously precise design style. Anyone else’s look similar or was this a one off error?

I don't think so this is actually just lazy on Criterion's part.

Not sure if lazy if within the manufacturing margin of error on the printing drawings.

Yeah, but come on. It’s tacky work, and not meeting the standard expected of a fancy boxed set from Criterion.tenia wrote: Sun Dec 28, 2025 9:34 am Not sur if lazy if within the manufacturing margin of error on the printing drawings.

It may have been a bad day at the factory for yours, but my spines line up pretty well. My copy of Rushmore is a bit off though. I'm keeping them in the box anyway.

Oh sure, I didn't mean to say it was good looking, just that the source of the issue might lie within the specs rather than the design. If anything though, I suppose one can always ask for tighter specs and more controls, but that'll be more expensive.WrathOfAguirre wrote:Yeah, but come on. Had a freeze on TRT on 450 but fine on 820. TDL froze at the same spot on both of them so away to email Criterion.

Where did your Darjeeling copy freeze? I’m already talking to them about a Tenenbaums replacement so would love to know if my Darjeeling disc is also screwed.TVC 15 wrote:Had a freeze on TRT on 450 but fine on 820. TDL froze at the same spot on both of them so away to email Criterion.
