I loved it, thought it was about the equal of Perry’s other niche multimedia doc. Fun that the collection includes the source of one of its most memorable five minutes devoted to a movie you barely remember if at all.

Yes, but Janus has it back already. 4K likely incoming at some point.

It was also uploaded to Fandango At Home recently with 4k playback and credited to Criterion/Janus.criterionsnob wrote: Wed Mar 18, 2026 8:49 pm Yes, but Janus has it back already. 4K likely incoming at some point.

Re: The Criterion Channel -- Film and Content Discussion
So the 720p problem is back.
Will Vimeo be any quicker fixing it this time? Or what is actually going on?
Really wish Criterion would get out from under this.

Bloody Nose, Empty Pockets is one of my favorite American films from the past decade. Unbelievably creative, entertaining, and well-acted by an amazing ensemble

They're featuring 80s remakes of older classics, but Blow Out/Blow-Up are noticeably absent. I searched & noticed both are also not on the channel. Scarface is also missing.

Even better is for him to be commissioned for the commentary track when the disc is released.

I just found out on r/CriterionChannel that Gary Hustwit's documentary on Brian Eno, "Eno", will have its streaming premiere on June 16 with new versions every month.
Here's the link to Hustwit's Instagram post about this:

Re: The Criterion Channel -- Film and Content Discussion
Just spotted a Sean Baker theme while rummaging through the channel which I don't remember ever being promoted before in the monthly announcements. Included are Four Letter Words, Take Out, Prince Of Broadway, & Starlet and all open with the crazy C. No Anora or Tangerine though.

This is really, really good, by the way. It's three hours long, composed entirely of clips from movies and TV shows—not a single talking head interview—with informative voiceover narration by Maya Hawke. I can't imagine a more comprehensive overview of video stores, and I think anyone from any generation would get a lot out of it.swo17 wrote: Wed Feb 18, 2026 8:19 pmThanks for pointing this out!criterionsnob wrote: Wed Feb 18, 2026 8:04 pmLooking forward to seeing Alex Ross Perry's Videoheaven.

Re: The Criterion Channel -- Film and Content Discussion
Is there a list anywhere (here or on Letterboxd or whatever) of films Criterion put in HD on the channel that don’t have HD physical releases? Thinking of the Naruse, Imamura, Kinoshita films, and surely there’s a lot of others they’ve been sitting on?

That would be day one purchase for me....even better would be a Kei Kumai Eclipse set. Unfortunately that's the only title of his on the channel.beamish14 wrote: Sat May 09, 2026 4:45 pmSandakan No.8…pzadvance wrote: Sat May 09, 2026 12:12 pm Is there a list anywhere (here or on Letterboxd or whatever) of films Criterion put in HD on the channel that don’t have HD physical releases?
