Re: Cinema Guild
Nice to see that the BD releases are increasing again. Hopefully they'll do The Friends, too.

Re: Cinema Guild
Missed my chance to see By the Stream at HFA -- it was shown at odd time and I forgot all about it. I could kick myself.
In Our Day is pretty unique for Hong -- somber, yet not without a sort of sense of joy. Very touching.

Re: Cinema Guild
I wonder if I should just get the Swiss (?) BluRay of Somai's Moving -- assuming I can still find it. I would rather get a UHD version from Cinema Guild -- but it is looking increasingly unlikely, isn't it?

Couldn't find an actual article about it so a twitter link will have to do

These are tremendous films. Don't pass up an opportunity to see them if they are showing near you. I can only hope that we see these on discs one day.Stefan Andersson wrote: Fri Apr 10, 2026 2:03 pm Cinema Guild acquires films by Margarida Cordeiro and António Reis: Trás-os-Montes (1976), Ana (1982), and Rosa de Areia (1989), restored by Cinemateca Portuguesa:

Re: Cinema Guild
Anyone else's copy of A Traveler's Needs come with the reverse artwork for In Our Day ?
Not a problem, just wondering.

Re: Cinema Guild
Mine is due to arrive today, so I'll check. I wouldn't be surprised if it has the same artwork, and I don't blame CG for not doing a reprint; I'm just grateful that CG is still releasing blu-rays. I also wouldn't blame CG if they release two Hongs on the same disc for economic reasons. I would be completely fine if they did that for By the Stream and What Does that Nature Say to You even if it only makes sense for economic reasons.
EDIT: My copy arrived minutes after my initial post. It does indeed have the reverse In Our Day cover.

Re: Cinema Guild
My best guesses are they printed too many reverses for In Our Day or forgot to not print a reverse for A Traveller's Needs. I did verify the correct film was on the disc and not, say, Road House.

Re: Cinema Guild
I feel like that's been pushed back several times as I preordered the same time as the two Hongs. Regardless, I'm just grateful that Cinema Guild is still releasing blus, and I do hope they move to Somai for their next round. I don't think they'll ever catch up with Hong so long as he's making movies.

Re: Cinema Guild
Dry Leaf is coming on Blu-ray August 25. Also included is Alexandre Koberidze's first film, Let The Summer Never Come Again. Given the the latter is 202 minutes and Dry Leaf itself is 186, I'm presuming this is a two-disc set. (Price point is the same as a single, though.)

Becaue of the nature of how Dry Leaf (and Let The Summer Never Come Again) was shot. Both appear on one disc!

Re: Cinema Guild
When Dry Leaf was finished, was the raw footage upscaled to produce an HD or 2K master? Or was the resolution kept as-is so that any upscaling done would be in the projection or display of the file?cinemaguild wrote: Wed Jun 24, 2026 7:49 pm Becaue of the nature of how Dry Leaf (and Let The Summer Never Come Again) was shot.
