I have it on good authority that the spoiler is that the lead isn't actually Tom Cruise in prosthetics. It's Bob Odenkirk with no prosthetics.

I can sort of see what you're saying in the set design, but Roy Andersson would never make anything even approximating this much hyperbolic cutting and shouting.
