Forbidden Planet was a Criterion laserdisc. I wonder if they would go after it for 4K now.

There wasn't anything on the Criterion laserdisc other than deleted scenes, a gallery of production and publicity photos, and the original screen treatment. Those would all need to be recreated for a 4K release.

Scaramouche, another former Criterion laserdisc which had a commentary track, is something I'd like to see.

at this point it's a game to figure out what's coming from Criterion (or Arrow) versus Warner themselves. I am honestly surprised Warner ended up doing both Boogie Nights and Magnolia themselves, figuring at least one would go CC. similarly, I'm not sure I would've pegged Criterion down for Captain Blood but of course, it's coming. Gone With the Wind is rightfully the headliner, as I was worried that Warner was going to bury it entirely. it'll be stunning in 4K, I personally really love the film and would kill to see WB bring back all the original extras from the 4 disc DVD set too, but they've been really bad about doing that in the Bluray/4K era (see also The Wizard of Oz)

Warner has been trying to get Cuaron to sign off on a new HDR 4K master of Gravity for several years now, so we'll see if it finally happens.

I imagine they could rebuild a 3D 4K master, but is that something that will ever happen on physical media?

"Wrong thread?" Whatever pal.

In other news, I just noticed Twilight Zone: The Movie was back in-print on Blu-ray as of three months ago. WB is likely pressing the same exact disc, but it's still welcome news as it was going for pretty exorbitant prices.

They’re still obsessed with Raintree Country, I thought

Song Of The South would be the obvious choice.

Song of the South is getting a public domain Italian UHD, so even this.
