BFI will be screening two Chabrols, Le boucher, and La femme infidele, this summer in UK cinemas. Tamasa are mentioned in the press release.
There's a mention in the new Sight & Sound that Le boucher will be showing at Cinema Rediscovered in Bristol on 27 July. La femme infidèle is also showing, on the 23rd.
The Sight & Sound piece also mentions a BFI Chabrol retrospective (presumably at the BFI Southbank and on BFI Player), and a Blu-ray set. Dates and contents TBA, but as the retrospective isn't on the "Here's What We've Got Coming Up in 2026" page which went up last December. My guess is that these will be in the last quarter of the year, and we should get release announcements in early August.
10 classic Chabrol titles will also be available UK-wide on BFI Player with Que la bête meure (1969), Le Boucher (1970), Cop au Vin (1985), Inspector Lavardin (1986), Betty (1992), L’Enfer (1994), The Swindle (1997), The Colour of Lies (1999) and Merci Pour Le Chocolat (2000) all available online from 7 September and La Femme infidèle (1969) from 2 October.
The BFI will also be releasing a selection of Claude Chabrol’s films on Blu-ray in 2027.
I wouldn't be surprised if Ish (out in cinemas this weekend) isn't one of the last-quarter announcements we should get next week on past experience. The BBFC have classified it for homeviewing with BFI Video as the distributor.

London, 6 August 2026 – The BFI announces today its upcoming 4K UHD, Blu-ray and DVD releases for October, November and December 2026, with all titles available to pre-order now. Highlights, as well as the previously announced, gloriously nutty Madness film from 1981, include Pier Paolo Pasolini’s most notorious work, a classic animation from John Halas and Joy Batchelor, and a new love letter to nature, filmed on Super 8.
19 October: TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT on Blu-ray/DVD (Dual Format)
Following a cinema release on 2 October and an already sold-out Restoration Premiere at BFI Southbank, TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT, directed by Dave Robinson, comes to Blu-ray/DVD, newly restored in 4K by the BFI. Part mockumentary, part time capsule, entirely unrepeatable, it’s the brilliantly chaotic, funny and unique story of how seven Camden mates became one of Britain's best-loved bands – Madness.
26 October: SALÒ, OR THE 120 DAYS OF SODOM on 4K UHD (+ a Blu-ray of extras)
The legendary and controversial SALÒ, OR THE 120 DAYS OF SODOM (1975) is released in a 4K UHD edition. Italian filmmaker and poet Pier Paolo Pasolini's final film confronts the ultimate implications of fascism through a series of sexual and moral atrocities.
9 November: BRASSED OFF on Blu-ray
Mark Herman's hugely popular and award-winning British comedy-drama BRASSED OFF (1996), the story of a colliery brass band in a Yorkshire mining village facing the closure of their local coal pit, comes to Blu-ray. Featuring a cast that includes Ewan McGregor, Tara Fitzgerald, Stephen Tompkinson and Pete Postlethwaite, the BFI’s Blu-ray release follows Brassed Off Live at the Royal Albert Hall in October.
23 November: ANIMAL FARM on 4K UHD and on Blu-ray, and SUPER NATURE on Blu-ray/DVD (Dual Format)
November sees the release of a new 4K restoration of one of the most important films in the history of British animation, ANIMAL FARM. This groundbreaking 1954 adaptation of George Orwell's novel, directed and produced by John Halas and Joy Batchelor, will be available in limited-edition 4K UHD and Blu-ray sets, featuring a new master created from the original 35mm Successive Frame negative held in the BFI National Archive.
Released the same day is the Blu-ray/DVD edition of the beautiful and deeply affecting wildlife documentary SUPER NATURE. Ed Sayers's debut feature was shot entirely on Super 8 film by more than 40 collaborators across the globe. SUPER NATURE is released in UK & Ireland cinemas on 4 September, including a run at BFI IMAX.
7 December: THE GOONS AT REDIFFUSION on Blu-ray/DVD (Dual Format)
Our final release of 2026, in a Blu-ray/DVD Dual Format, is THE GOONS AT REDIFFUSION. The latest instalment in this series of programmes from the Associated-Rediffusion archive, this release highlights the early television work of comic geniuses Peter Sellers and Spike Milligan. The set features rare footage from programmes such as The Idiot Weekly, A Show Called Fred and Son of Fred. These supremely silly and surreal sketch shows remain some of the most uproariously successful attempts to capture the quicksilver genius of the Goons on British television.
All these titles will contain a selection of extra features and an illustrated booklet (first pressing only) to provide contextual information.
