As reported by Domino, Eclipse 21 (Oshima's Outlaw Sixties) is now OOP.

I definitely have to speculate on the Oshima and Fuller sets being upcoming upgrades - obviously big names and both have had some popularity (/recent releases), I can't imagine them wanting to lose those editions

Oshima seems like a no-brainer to upgrade, but I'm skeptical about the Fuller. Seems like something they just finally sold the last copy of and won't bother to reprint or upgrade. Prove me wrong, Criterion!

The number is 164 with the triumphant returns of Coup de Torchon, Shoot the Piano Player, and Harold and Maude.

With Harold and Maude, that's three out of the six titles Criterion got back from the Paramount purge. I have a good feeling Nashville will follow. I don't think Rosemary's Baby will be back until Polanski dies.

The Elephant Man wasn't part of the Paramount purge, it was because they lost the rights and North American distribution reverted to Brooksfilms Limited, who made Janus the new distributor.HardNight'sDay wrote: Fri Aug 14, 2026 5:13 pm With Harold and Maude, that's three out of the six titles Criterion got back from the Paramount purge. Days of Heaven, Rosemary's Baby, Nashville, Harold and Maude, La Dolce Vita, and Don't Look Now were the purge titles. Each one that returned as a 4K/Blu Combo and new Blu-ray. Rosemary's Baby is least likely since it's the only one Paramount handled the 4K themselves on. Kind of surprised Nashville wasn't earlier this year for its 50th anniversary, but maybe Paramount will handle it themselves after all. There's also December.
edit: Forgot Nashville was 1975, not 1976.

Re: Criterions Out of Print (OOP)
Paramount did their own reissue of Nashville in April, it's identical to the Paramount Presents edition but in a standard Amaray case. There's still no UHD release so I could see them being willing to license it out, but probably not for a little while at least.

Pans Labyrinth has gone OOP. I assume we’ll see an upgrade within the next year.

Make that four out of six now. Maybe La Dolce Vita will be the next Fellini film in 4K.HardNight'sDay wrote: Fri Aug 14, 2026 5:13 pm With Harold and Maude, that's three out of the six titles Criterion got back from the Paramount purge. The Che DVD is in-stock on Criterion's website and the Blu-ray is now listed as "Currently Unavailable" instead of "Out of Print."

Del Toro replied to a post asking if Pans Labyrinth is coming back to Criterion with a yes.

Re: Criterions Out of Print (OOP)
Not exactly OOP, taken down from their store altogether. You can search it up, but it doesn’t show any stock status or purchase option whatsoever (unlike the titles explicitly marked OOP), and it’s disappeared from the new releases section of their site/store. Even after the standalone Eyes Wide Shut 4K flew off the shelves last year, it seems they might’ve underestimated demand for the box set, or even if they knew they would run out of stock so fast, they might not have been able to get enough manufacturing capacity to meet the inevitable demand.

Hoping B&N has good stock when their sale starts or I will have converted 30,000 credit card points to B&N GC for naught.

Re: Criterions Out of Print (OOP)
Your gift card shouldn't have an expiry date. I checked my store rewards card and my own new B&N gift card and neither has a limitation on it as far as I can tell, other than the monetary cap. Even if you were to miss out next month, the card should be good at least until next June's sale, right?

Re: Criterions Out of Print (OOP)
Is it common for Flash Sales to apply only to the available stock?
This last one truly upset me with Criterion.
The sale started at noon. I teach at a university at that time.
When I returned home, I immediately tried to place the order, and found that it was sold out.
This problem would be experienced by anyone who works and cannot place an order in the middle of the workday.
If the stock was limited, surely they could have come up with a better sale window (such as sale from midnight to midnight, which would give equal chance to everyone).
