I can only hope that it’s Ralph Bakshi’s Hey Good Lookin’
A part of me is hoping the Reviver title is Coonskin.

It doesn’t quite match the description of being unseen, as it has received theatrical screenings over the last 20 years. I thought Paramount owned it, or maybe it’s with Al Ruddy’s estate now

First, one of the most unsettling true crime thrillers of the past 50 years, acclaimed for its startling performances and unflinching examination of obsession and madness, finally hits 4K UHD, featuring a stunning new restoration from its original camera negative.
Star 80?
Could be!

Correct, SCARECROW is not set in NY. Hopefully it is with Criterion like I expected then.

Eh… could they be hinting at The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man-in-the-Moon Marigolds? It’s a New York film, the house in it is kinda grimy and I suppose it is an unflinching portrait of an absolute bitch. And I suppose there are varieties of marigold that would look like the flower in the drawing.

It would be another play adaptation to follow Jimmy Dean as well.

I see what you did there.
Speculation is that there will be a separate 2026 Directors Cut release like there has been by Studio Canal (which conversely excluded the theatrical cut) If Vinegar Syndrome pulls this one off I am happy to put this old favorite to bed forever. Agree however that having TWO costly premium packages of the same old movie in completely different versions - launched simultaneously, is weird indeed.

I feel like this is a weird release altogether, with bootleg-y vibes. The focus on older versions Mann possibly doesn't endorse anymore, with barely any new extra, at the same time the new new cut is getting a lavish treatment, makes it look more like a concurrent release.
I mean, it's a good thing these are getting preserved, restored and released like this, but splitting the cuts this way is surprising to say the least.

I hope. Although I do have some doubts: 'finally hits 4K UHD' 'featuring the 4K UHD debut of one of' Hmm, no mention of Blu-ray debut.

'unsettling true crime thrillers of the past 50 years' I’d probably call it a thriller at least because of the final minutes but I’m not sure.

Seems like a bit of a dry month for the partner labels. A few newer films I haven't seen that might be okay (By Design; Palestine '36; Two Seasons, Two Strangers), and that's about it. Has anyone seen the Mackendrick films?

I admire their ability to license major studio films while still maintaining their current branding. Still their advertised spec is probably more in demand than Mann's continual fan edit marathon which literally nobody asked for.

I'll second the recommendation of In the Dark. Even if SOV stuff is not your bag (it seldom is for me), this is unnerving as hell and manages to turn its dirt cheap production values into strengths.
