Oh please let that be the new standard.

EDIT: In case you can't find it buried on page 11 of this thread, Peter Becker provided a very thorough explanation of why Criterion has gone dual-format.

Well, that'll make the DVD a bit harder to unload, but it's exciting nonetheless.

This is pretty AMAZING. Now I can watch the DVD in the car while I drive and leave the Blu at home on the shelf!

They're going to piss everyone off by making them an in-between size figure-eight case that's totally irreplaceable except through their online store at $5 a pop. Wrapped in a crushed digipak.

Does this mean we'll never get to see the part of the cover that goes under the round sticker. So sad...

That'll force my library to buy Criterion Blu-rays and save me some money, I guess. In theory.

Same with Netflix, Perkins Cobb.

So wait a second, if Criterion's going Dual Format for everything that means Eclipse too, right? Please say it means Eclipse...

Also hoping the duel formats are in DVD boxes. Never been a fan of how fragile/thin blu-ray discs cases are.

GROSS! No! Have you seen Criterion Blu cases? They are the opposite of thin and fragile.
