Gaumont's restoration will undoubtedly be a full-scale photochemical 4K frame-by-frame job, conducted on a far bigger budget than Eureka could ever muster. I think James White did a phenomenal job, and the MoC disc is clearly definitive for now, but the transfer could certainly be improved upon, as James would doubtless be the first to admit.bamwc2 wrote:I wasn't aware that Gaumont was working on a restoration. Another fairly critical issue is the language of the intertitles - I suspect Criterion would favour French over Danish, not least because that's how they released the film on DVD.
