Re: Radiance Films General Discussion & Wishlist
Starting to think the '2025 Titles Teaser' is meant to be read from left to right, as ATOS (A Tale of Sorrow and Sadness), GWS (Girl with a Suitcase), VS (Va savoir) and ROG (River of Grass) are the first 4 circles on the graphic.
I wonder then if RJ is a Radu Jude box set (we know Fran was trying to license at least one or two of his more recent titles) and PAL could well be Palindromes (somebody confirmed Radiance have that for the UK, and Criterion have US rights according to Solondz himself). Any guesses for RM or THE?
When you get down to the fifth row, DAI could be another Daiei Gothic set (or similar), and DAU is considered to be Daughters of Darkness, so what could MAL be for? I assume those will be horror titles for October/Halloween, like last year.
EDIT: Just realised THE is likely Thesis, which got a 4K release from Umbrella recently. Guessing that's one of the "A couple of serial killers" clues too...

Re: Radiance Films General Discussion & Wishlist
I'm sure it's a mistake (and I wouldn't blame them for not honoring it), but Volume 4 of their Dirty Arthouse set is currently listed as £2.49 on Radiance's site.
Edit: Okay, I feel like an idiot. It's a magazine, not an eclectic boxed set.

Killer Cop confirmed for Rare Video
Police inspector Matteo Rolandi (Claudio Cassinelli, The Suspicious Death Of A Minor) witnesses a massacre in a hotel when a bomb explodes and kills dozens of civilians. As Inspector Rolandi continues his investigation, he soon discovers a terrifying conspiracy behind the act of brutal terrorism. I know they've already done a Palme D'or winner with The Eel, but this makes a ton of sense in relation to the clue.yoloswegmaster wrote: ↑Wed Oct 09, 2024 10:59 amI could see the Palme D'or title being When Father Was Away on Business, Man of Iron, or Chronicle of the Years of Fire.

Could it also be Germi’s Il ferroviere, which, in some countries at least, is known as Man of Iron..?

Has anyone seen Radiance's releases of Mississippi Mermaid or The Bride Wore Black? Just
interested to know if these are a marked improvement on previous US releases.

Re: Radiance Films General Discussion & Wishlist
The improvements are in the booklets/on-disc supplements (though I'll never forget that Twilight Time issued the latter with a bonus CD of Bernard Herrmann... in interview, not of his score!), I don't think there's much of a marked difference quality wise between these and the Kino reissues otherwise as they use the same restos

Re: Radiance Films General Discussion & Wishlist
Think you may have a point there - 'RM' clue is due next month, so that would be the English title: The Railroad Man.
If the teaser list is still reliable, that means we may have 'PAL' (Palindromes) and 'RJ' (Radu Jude box set?) next month as well, and possibly 'THE' (Thesis 4K UHD?).

Re: Radiance Films General Discussion & Wishlist
It’s probably not Thesis because I believe Severin has the rights to that and will probably release it in the UK too. The Railroad Man is a good shoutout though and has been on my list for quite a while so I’d be excited to check it out in HD.rapta wrote: ↑Wed Jan 08, 2025 9:20 pmThink you may have a point there - 'RM' clue is due next month, so that would be the English title: The Railroad Man.

THE = Themroc?

Re: Radiance Films General Discussion & Wishlist
Yeah, Themroc was suggested by someone before as it was mentioned in the blurb for the Corneau set, so that seems a likely alternative.
I didn't realise Thesis was coming from Severin, that's good news I suppose.

Themroc feels way more like a Radiance title to me
still want THE to be Theo Angelopoulos, though...

If THEMROC comes, I’d like the option to play it with the little red Channel 4 warning triangle in the corner. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_tri ... Channel_4)

someone on the other forum pitched Cavalier's Thérèse, which also feels like a possibility since they've done two of his other movies

That's wonderful news for "La ragazza con la valigia" I still remember the gorgeous black & white photography; the beach scene was tremendous... and the scene when Claudia is on the stairs whilst Jacques Perrin plays an opera...
Can we stil order Radiance UK blu-ray from France to amazon.co.uk ? It does not appear on amazon.co.uk so far.
Is there a trailer of the new 4K restoration ? (Too bad no UHD is planned)
I have "found" some video excerpts of the new 4K restoration (not from Radiance) here :
https://lesfilmsducamelia.com/films/la- ... la-valise/
I remember I bought the Mk2 DVD (saw in in theatrical release (restored copy) in France); then the fair HDTV transfer of the Spanish blu-ray "unofficial" (?) release.
I hope that Criterion sill plan to release Sandra.

I would love for this to be true. I saw it screened in its release year at San Francisco International Film Festival and it’s stuck with me ever since.ryannichols7 wrote: ↑Thu Jan 09, 2025 12:55 pmsomeone on the other forum pitched Cavalier's Thérèse, which also feels like a possibility since they've done two of his other movies

Re: Radiance Films General Discussion & Wishlist
That glimpse of the new 4K restoration is tantalising. Basically you can still order the Radiance UK release from amazon.co.uk from the EU including France. They calculate the appropriate VAT for the country you are in. Likewise if you order directly from Radiance it will be the country appropriate EU VAT rate charged, rather than that levied by the UK, so the import should similarly be unimpeded subsequently.Rupert Pupkin wrote: ↑Thu Jan 09, 2025 7:35 pmThat's wonderful news for "La ragazza con la valigia" I still remember the gorgeous black & white photography; the beach scene was tremendous... and the scene when Claudia is on the stairs whilst Jacques Perrin plays an opera...

Radiance released a trailer on their YouTube channel (here). Looks lovely but am trying not to pre-order absolutely every Radiance release so have put this on hold for now...bound to pick it up within a few months though!Rupert Pupkin wrote: ↑Thu Jan 09, 2025 7:35 pmThat's wonderful news for "La ragazza con la valigia" I still remember the gorgeous black & white photography; the beach scene was tremendous... and the scene when Claudia is on the stairs whilst Jacques Perrin plays an opera...

As for Amazon UK listings, newly-announced Radiance titles generally don't show up for pre-order on any site other than their own until about a week after announcements, so check back next week and they should be up on Amazon, HMV, Rarewaves, Zavvi etc.
