Dog Day Afternoon seems too big a title to go to VS. I'd assume something more along the lines of Straight Time.

Isn't Cinematographe's mission to restore neglected, often panned American cinema from those years? I don't think the Lumet would fit the bill

There's that, and they've also released Lumet's Child's Play in the past. But that's also one of his more overlooked titles.

VS's Black Friday 2026 flash pre-order event email just went out. Starts November 1.

I feel like if you need a 500+ word email to explain how your sale works, maybe it's just a bit too complicated.

next VSU (a major UHD debut and a VS first)
Maybe an animated like The Iron Giant?
The start of the event will see the unveiling of our next VSU (a major UHD debut and a VS first), plus two VS proper November releases, both making their UHD debuts, one of which is sure to inspire the best kind of déjà vu… Plus, our next Pink Line release will be revealed!

Even with all these sure-to-shock announcements, there’s still plenty more to keep you on the edge of your seat as we approach the Black Friday sale itself, beginning Friday, November 27th, at exactly 12:01 AM ET!

In addition to this year’s unforgettable (dare we say, devastating) slate of shock-filled Secret Releases, including a stunning UHD debut and a horrifying box set, you can look forward to a grisly VSA, a mysterious VSL, an even more mysterious Reviver, a gritty Cinématographe, and the unexpected return of a VS founding principle.

You’ll be eating those words when it turns out to be a sublabel dedicated to Michel Deville
