Re: Vinegar Syndrome and Their Partner Labels
Dog Day Afternoon seems too big a title to go to VS. I'd assume something more along the lines of Straight Time.

Isn't Cinematographe's mission to restore neglected, often panned American cinema from those years? I don't think the Lumet would fit the bill

There's that, and they've also released Lumet's Child's Play in the past. But that's also one of his more overlooked titles.

VS's Black Friday 2026 flash pre-order event email just went out. Starts November 1.
I feel like if you need a 500+ word email to explain how your sale works, maybe it's just a bit too complicated.

Maybe an animated like The Iron Giant?next VSU (a major UHD debut and a VS first)
The start of the event will see the unveiling of our next VSU (a major UHD debut and a VS first), plus two VS proper November releases, both making their UHD debuts, one of which is sure to inspire the best kind of déjà vu… Plus, our next Pink Line release will be revealed!
Even with all these sure-to-shock announcements, there’s still plenty more to keep you on the edge of your seat as we approach the Black Friday sale itself, beginning Friday, November 27th, at exactly 12:01 AM ET!
In addition to this year’s unforgettable (dare we say, devastating) slate of shock-filled Secret Releases, including a stunning UHD debut and a horrifying box set, you can look forward to a grisly VSA, a mysterious VSL, an even more mysterious Reviver, a gritty Cinématographe, and the unexpected return of a VS founding principle.

You know, I could see them releasing Benjamin since it was Paramount’s first X rated film…

Zero chance. A 4K DCP has existed for a while (same with NETWORK before Criterion announced it) and it's too popular of a title to fit Cinématographe. It's almost certainly with Criterion, unless Arrow managed to secure it.James Stock wrote: Tue Sep 08, 2026 3:01 pm I'm not sure if there's any evidence to this but someone on Reddit said Dog Day Afternoon is coming from Cinematographe by the end of the year.
FWIW, I 100% expected SCARECROW to come from Criterion (Schatzberg was in the Criterion Closet in 2025), and there's a high likelihood VinSyn have Scott's THE HUNGER.domino harvey wrote: Tue Sep 08, 2026 5:32 pmI think there’s no way Criterion doesn’t have a first look deal with WB for licensing. What WB title has even come from another label that sounds like a Criterion release?James Stock wrote: Tue Sep 08, 2026 3:01 pm I'm not sure if there's any evidence to this but someone on Reddit said Dog Day Afternoon is coming from Cinematographe by the end of the year.
There was also a rumor Criterion got PEDICAB DRIVER as part of the same deal as THE BLADE but then dwk found out Criterion did not have PEDICAB DRIVER yet it fortunately wound up at Arrow. And both BULLITT and FORBIDDEN PLANET would've fit at Criterion, same for a certain film I heard Arrow have planned for 2027 (that I haven't seen yet, but people will be very excited about).

I haven't heard anything about that one actually, but my guess is that one is with Criterion.James Stock wrote: Sun Oct 25, 2026 2:06 amI'm probably way off but I'm gonna guess it's Bonnie and Clyde.MovieBuff647 wrote: Sun Oct 25, 2026 1:52 am same for a certain film I heard Arrow have planned for 2027 (that I haven't seen yet, but people will be very excited about).

Another clue: Co-Starring Dominique Sanda and Géraldine Chaplin. Released in 1980. Anyone know what this could be?luxta wrote: Fri Oct 23, 2026 4:32 pmAnother clue "and the unexpected return of a VS founding principle"dwk wrote: Fri Oct 23, 2026 4:27 pm Hey look, another VS sublabelCompletionist Package (all VS Sub-Labels releasing for Black Friday — VSU, VSA, VSL, Cinématographe, Reviver and a brand new Sub-Label — excluding Pink Line)

So, Bound for Glory (1976) is that kind of road movie. It seems Tony Stella created this artwork before he passed away.dwk wrote: Tue Sep 08, 2026 5:29 pm I'm pretty sure Justin Laliberty said there are no Warner titles coming from Cinematographe in 2026.

That has to be it. Of course it’s not one of his best films
