One of the milestone films of it's era, this satirical drama stars Peter Boyle as Joe Curran, a bigoted, beer-swilling hardhat who befriends strait-laced advertising exec Bill Compton (Dennis Patrick) after Bill confesses he killed his daughter Melissa's (Susan Sarandon, in her screen debut) drug dealer boyfriend. When Melissa runs away in order to continue living the hippie lifestyle, Joe and Bill search for her, their journey including a stop at a Greenwich Village "org-gy."
