One of the most shocking films of Hollywood’s golden age, The Sniper pits Adolphe Menjou (State of the Union) against Arthur Franz (The Caine Mutiny) in a deadly game of cat and mouse.
When misogynist delivery man Eddie goes on a killing spree, murdering women through the sights of his sniper rifle, it falls to detective Frank Kafka to second-guess his motives and put a stop to his rampage.
Directed by Edward Dmytryk (Murder, My Sweet), this chilling and controversial film noir is a favourite of Martin Scorsese, and has provided a prototype for films from Magnum Force to Se7en.
