Walkabout
Walkabout is presented in its original aspect ratio of 1.78:1. On standard 4:3 televisions, the image will appear letterboxed. On widescreen televisions, the image should fill the screen. This new high-definition digital transfer was scanned in 2K on a $K Spirit Datacine from a new 35mm preservation interpositive made from the original camera negative. The color timing was approved by director Nicolas Roeg. Thousands of instances of dirt, debris, scratches, splices, warps, jitter, and flicker were manually removed using MTI's DRS system and Pixel Farm's PFClean System, while Digital Vision's DVNR was used for small dirt, grain, and noise reduction.
The monaural soundtrack was remastered at 24-bit from the 35mm optical soundtrack print. Clicks, thumps, hiss, and hum were manually removed using Pro Tools HD. Crackle was attenuated using AudioCube's integrated workstation.
